Brilliant visit. The rebooked MOT was carried out in timely fashion and my car was looked after. The technician was great and even highlighted a couple of non MOT relevant issues that would be beneficial to address . Just goes to show he cared, had the knowledge and was very thorough. Thanks .

Firstly my wife dropped off the car and was informed it will be ready at certain time, so instead of taking cab home she decided to wait for slightly over 1 hour, to then come and be informed that it wasn't looked at yet and they have no clue when it will be ready - disrespectful of ones time. I later picked up the car and was informed that one wheel was balanced and the other one shouldn't be a problem as there was only 20g to be added. I said I'll be happy to pay more so it can be also balanced but was told that there's no need as 20g wouldn't make a difference. I went on a motorway to give it a go and it was still shaking the whole car when going about 60mph and up - same as before Halfords visit. I took the car to KwikFit day after and the problem was resolved with balancing all 4 wheels....but I was informed that all the preexisting weights on the wheels were old and no work was carried out on any wheel recently... Another issue was communication. I couldn't find the security wheel nut key so contacted the Halfords, I was promised they will look if it wasn't misplaced, I called again 25min later and was told they are looking right now and will give me a call in 10min. They never called me back.

Had a really terrible experience at Halfords Autocentre Manchester (Bury New Rd). I brought my Mercedes in for a routine service and when I picked it up, I noticed a very obvious scratch on the driver?s door that definitely wasn?t there before.
At first, the staff completely denied it. Then after checking CCTV, they admitted the car arrived with no damage ? but still refused to show me the full footage. They tried to show me a screenshot from their personal phone ? just a few seconds long ? claiming it showed no scratch, but it was blurry, unclear, had no timestamp at all, and could easily have been taken when the car first arrived. The clips they did show me were cherry-picked and had no timestamps, so it?s completely useless as proper evidence.
To make things worse, they had parked my car far away on a public road, nowhere near the shop. I strongly believe they did this on purpose because they knew there was damage and hoped I wouldn?t notice. They even tried blaming it on a passing lorry, but the scratch is clearly not from a collision. I had it checked at a professional body shop ? it?s obviously a scrape from poor handling, not an external impact.
On Friday, I went back to the branch to ask for updates, as I had been chasing them for two days with no response. That?s when they showed me a piece of CCTV footage where I could clearly see the scratch on my car while it was inside their workshop. The moment I pointed it out, their attitude changed completely. They suddenly became defensive, started avoiding further discussion, and refused to provide me with any copy of the footage or any additional help.
One of the guys at the front desk kept dodging questions, and at one point pointed at the first BMW on the street and said it was another customer?s car they had parked there ? but it was literally my other car, which I had just driven there myself. I honestly had to stop myself from laughing. When they ran out of excuses, they started saying things like ?We?re a big company, we?re not short on money.? Honestly? For a ?big company,? it?s shocking how little effort has been put into basic staff training or accountability.
Then the same person asked me, ?Doesn?t your car have insurance? Road tax? MOT?? and told me I should just claim through my insurer ? as if that makes it okay for them to damage a customer?s vehicle and walk away.
To top it off, the engine warning light came on the very next day. The car was running perfectly before the service. Now I don?t even know if they performed the service properly at all.
And just to be clear ? this isn?t the first time I?ve had problems with this branch. Last year they overfilled the engine oil in another one of my cars, which caused an emergency alert while I was driving on the motorway. I thought that was just a one-off mistake, but clearly it wasn?t.
I?ve completely lost faith in this branch. They damage cars, lie about it, shift the blame, and treat customers like fools. I?ve already logged a police incident and will be pursuing a formal complaint.
NO WONDER THIS IS THE LOWEST-RATED HALFORDS IN ALL OF MANCHESTER. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

I went Halfords Bury to buy a steering wheel lock. The young guy who helped me was very accommodating and fitted one which was suitable for my car.

Probably couldn't have been any worse from start to finish and then even caused me problems when having a new M.O.T. done who thankfully identified a mileage discrepancy as the place had recorded 32000 as 52000. Shambles really.
In response to the reply received. I raised a complaint in 2023 and heard nothing. It's halfway through 2025...

I am writing to express my deep frustration and disappointment with the appalling service I received at your Halfords branch.
I booked an appointment in advance and dropped my car off on Friday at 8:00 AM. I was told I would be contacted regarding the repair. No one bothered to call me. When I returned on *Monday at 12:00 PM*, I was shocked and extremely angry to find *nothing had been done* ? the car was left untouched.
This is not just poor service; it is completely *unprofessional*, *disrespectful*, and *irresponsible*. Wasting a customer?s time like this is unacceptable and shows a serious lack of customer care and basic courtesy.
You have lost my trust, and I will not be recommending your services to anyone. I expect an explanation and action taken to prevent this kind of disgraceful experience from happening to others.

Used Halfords when I needed a new tyre. Was easy to arrange a convenient appointment, prices were decent, was seen on time and the fitting was carried out in a timely manner. Waiting area was clean & comfortable and the staff were friendly & helpful.

Rude and oversell forced me into having work done which I didn?t need. Don?t go as a lone woman. The garage looks really messy it has gone down hill recently it use to be a good place to go all they want to

Very disappointed I have been using Halfords on Bury New Road for a few years and after my recent visit all I can really say is I will be looking for a new garage. I felt really pressured into having work done and when I said I wanted to speak to my son first the young man on the front desk got very dismissive and rude he didn?t really explain why I needed all the work just said things like I was putting my family at risk if I didn?t have the work done. From walking in the door they start with the upsel wanting me to have cleaners and tracking all this before they had even looked at my car. I understand that Halfords is a business but I felt as I was being ripped of and they were just trying to get me to have work I didn?t really need. It looks like there has been a change of personal recently the garage and reception looked really untidy I could sense a bad atmosphere in the garage I could hear swearing and people shouting at each other.

Went in for a free brake check the young lad on the front desk his name was gage ( Not sure if this was a nick name ) told me I needed front and rear brake discs and brake pads and something called a caliper he also said I needed 2x bottom suspension arms and 3 tyres his quote came to £1875 I felt sick the car drove fine and not long ago it had an mot . I decided to take it to a different garage up the road it?s one of the big garages blue sign. They checked it over and said all I needed was a set of rear braking pads £120 fitted. I can see why they are called halfrauds safe to say I won?t be returning to Halfords. I went to Halfords on bury new road last year without problems but allot of the staff seem to of changed

The manager was rude they tried to oversell and when I questioned him on it he got aggressive and rude and said what would I now. The young lad sat next to him just smirked at me. My car only went in for a small service and they wanted over £1400 I only do 2k miles a year and it had a mot a month ago with not even 1 advisory. Stay clear the new management in that branch are bullies.

I booked my car in for a full service . My car had a slight noise prior to this but was driving ok . Later in the afternoon they rang me to tell me all the issues with the car which in total accrued to £1200 , baring in mind my car passed its MOT 1 month prior with no advisories .. when I arrived to pick my car up I explained that I would need the info to have a look and then decide whether or not to get there work done with Halfords . The worker said I would receive this by email . But none of the jobs were urgent and my car was alright to drive .. I received the email a few days later with the list of jobs in sections of red and amber which tells me if it?s in red it needs to be done with immediate affect ..when I drive off from Halfords my car was sluggish ,, the noise was louder and I truly believe they have done damage to my car ? o have taken it back to my local
Garage ( the one that done the MOT ) who looked at my car and told me I need. Timing belt only ( this was not on the list of which Halfords sent me ) other than this my car is ok ? Do not waste your money? I know we trust the brand ? Halfords ? local garages are more honest , cheaper and not out to do you more so if your a woman ?
