This is the 2nd time at this restaurant and was left feeling disappointed. Yes it was a warm day but the air-conditioning was set at freezing. When you went upstairs to the restroom it was a welcome rest from the cold.
The food suffered due to the temperature of the air-conditioning. It went cold pretty much straight away. The prawns from the small plates were really good but let down by going cold too quickly. The tapanades with the breads were too oily and runny, the bread wasn't toasted enough so just felt stale. Calamari was good and the zucchini writes were good too, again let down with the restaurant being too cold.
The service.......well if you enjoy outdated over familiar italian male waiters going OTT with the strange compliments, and innuendos then this is the place for you! Maybe groups of women on a hen or whatever may enjoy this kind of banter but not when you're out with your husband. Dont get me wrong he wasn't impolite just a bit, dare I say sleazy. So with that I think our visits to Fumo have come to an end. But if you love all that then this is the place for you!

My company booked two large groups (approx 12 guests each group) in separate areas of the restaurant. Service for both groups was some of the worst I have ever seen. Food was mediocre but service was appalling. Wait staff were utterly miserable and down right rude to guests. My guests were very polite and only made reasonable requests for things like a serving spoon with shared dishes. Would avoid based on this very poor experience.

The service was good bar service friendly and exciting table service was good considering how busy they were asked for extra hot pasta dish with no results. daughter in-laws birthday we booked san carlos king street and arrived to be told they were shut due to no gas so they booked us into oxford street and apologised for the problem and said we would get free shots. the food quality was dismal lasagna had no pasta in the dish crab ravioli was off uneatable free birthday cream pastry was hanging she was nearly sick and then tried to charge us for the shots not very impressed at all with the food quality however table service worked well. we paid £480
for 6 guest between us unfortunately to be let down.

i was absolutely disappointed with this restaurant.
we came in and sat outside, it was lovely and hot outside and we really loved the atmosphere of it. we were sat for about 10 minutes waiting for someone to take our drink order and by that point, our food order. our waiter passed us numerous times and served people around us, and even went and served a table that was seated after us.
frustrated, i went inside to order a drink (it was a very hot day). conveniently, this was when our waiter passed me as i went inside said he was coming to serve us. i asked for 2 drinks (due to dehydration) and he made a comment ?thirsty are you??. he may have been joking, but after waiting for 10 minutes it wasn?t funny. i was dehydrated, frustrated, hot and hungry.
the food was average, nothing special but not bad.
i will not be returning.

This place is a little over priced for the food I received- almost £5 for a small coke , and my truffle ravioli was quite dry.

Food was ok. Probably as an Italian I may have to say pizza was nothing special. Also, is overpriced. I get a pizza margherita plus more cheese for 17.50 £, I do understand is in city center and that?s could effect. Staff was nice and quickly. Thank you girls!

Bad customer service , no one would attend to us, had to chase every passing waiter as we didn?t get serviced for the first 20 minutes after being seated , after eventually being able to order the food , it came out with missing dishes , the servers attitude towards the situation was a let down too ,
Food no where near as a good as the San Carlo on Kings Street either , I?d avoid this one and go there

Booked a table here for father's day because I have dined here before with a friend. They advertise that Gluten and dairy free options are available. Only 2 options on the starters menu one of which was olives. !!! We managed to find a mains option for us all so we decided to stay put so we could actually get a meal. The waitress told us she would understand if we chose to leave . The only mains they had for my lactose intolerant daughter was tagliatelle bologna, then the waitress came out to say she couldn't have the tagliatelle as it contains milk. Oh please !!! So she had no choice but to get it. My husband had the halibut but couldn't have the sauce so that was bland. Was was meant to be a nice meal out for father's day was a very disappointing experience. We left after the mains to go home and get desserts bought from Asda. Why do these places advertise that they cater for Glutenfree and allergens when basically they provide the bare minimum ? Shame on you fumo we won't be repeating the experience!!!

Service generally okay but waiter comments about drink and food choices unwelcome. Calamari undercooked causing it to taste of flour and seating far too close to next table leading to constant banging into chair by staff. Probably won't revisit as better choices in the city centre.

Fabulous Dining Experience.
We ate early on a Monday evening, and the only reason I?ve given four stars for atmosphere is because it?s so difficult to judge that on a quiet Monday evening.
The food was excellent, and arrived at exactly the right time. This restaurant understands that a good dining experience doesn?t mean getting you in and out as quickly as possible. Our waiter (possibly the Maître D) was a credit to his profession. Friendly, funny and attentive, without ever intruding on our experience.
We felt welcomed and valued, and when the bill was presented, I felt they had earned every penny.
I cannot recommend this restaurant more highly.

Good atmosphere, but you need to choose carefully. The tortellini with ham and peas and spinach were excellent but the rigatoni + n'duja was dry and heated up and the salad was minimal.

I?ve been a long standing customer at the original king street branch and always had exceptional customer service. I was in the city this week and my 4 year old needed the toilet urgently as 4 year olds do. I walked in and asked reception if my 4 year old couple please use the loo as he was desperate and she said ?it?s locked sorry? restaurant is open and I?m thinking ok so if I need to buy a drink that?s fine but before I could ask if I bought a drink to takeaway she barked at me ?try McDonald?s?. McDonald?s was not a short walk for a 4 year old who is bursting as I would have gone there was it closer. Maybe it?s a company policy I don?t know, but her attitude was so bad and the degree of empathy for my situation was so lacking that I will never book a table at this restaurant. I could deal with a polite or apologetic decline but she was cold, rude and made me feel embarrassed for asking. I don?t work in hospitality but if I did and acted like that, I?d seek a new line of work rather than be damaging a businesses reputation sat like that front of house. I went to Ezra and Gill to clean him up who were completely accommodating and gave him a free cookie for being upset because id dragged him to the next independent on the street when the library was closed!
