Great food at a reasonable price

We booked the Roebuck for a large family gathering. This was all very organised and communication was good from the start. Lovely place in a great setting. Staff were attentive and the food was fab. The steak and seabass were a perticular hit with the guests! Everyone had a fantastic evening we will definately be going back.

Three of us dined here last night, didn't enjoy it at all. For a start it was very noisy and no tablecloths. We ordered drinks including a bottle of Pinot. The one I got was 10.5 volume which is like dishwater. The waiter changed it but said that most Pinots are that volume. They need to buy it from Asda or M and S for £8.50 volume 12%! We ordered our starters and mains at before 8.30. We like a break in-between courses and the waitress said no problem. She came back and said the kitchen would be closing shortly and there was no guarantee we could have a break. I told her we needed one and would have to go elsewhere. Off she went again, came back and said we would be getting our starters shortly and hopefully could have a break??? We did get a short one but not long enough. Food not brilliant, the chef certainly cannot make mashed potatoes. When I booked the table I asked the owner what time they stopped serving food and he said there was no limit?? Don't know why people rave about this place.

Used to love this place but recently it's lost its atmosphere with the lack of lavish curtains table decor etc the food ( that was still available) was average lacking in hearty taste next time when I want a traditional English pub dining experience I will go Old Original and skip here

Very nice little pub, was sat down straight away, would Recommend booking though on a Sunday, although we're sat down quick and quickly with drinks, but was slow to order food. Cheese and onion pie was nice but bottom crust was hard. The roast dinner was very nice. Although the roast potatoes are homemade you can tell that they've been frozen.

Not really sure what the fuss is about in this place to be honest.
Booked a table for 6. 2 adults had the lamb shoulder and it was just ok. Nothing special and not something either would order again.
Another ordered the sirloin medallions with Stilton sauce from the specials menu. The sauce was nice, the veg too. The steak wasn?t any better than braising steak.
Another ordered chicken fajitas, the meat was all tough, suggest it was overcooked and it was unbelievably over seasoned.
The kids fish fingers were nice. The kids pizza was rubbish - looked like it was about a week old.
There are lots of staff but none of the ones who served us were particularly friendly or helpful. It?s clearly a family set up that could be excellent given its nice beer garden but I wouldn?t rush back. As a hearing aid wearer, the music coming from the speakers was so loud it spoiled my experience. The acoustics in the building are a challenge given its age.
The best bit was that the napkins are cloth.

Went for a drive and stopped at the roebuck. The car park was full so I call to see if they had any spaces for 4 diners. They only had a high table at the bar so I said that fine . When we went in . The staff was very welcoming and saw that we had our elderly mum with us. So as Some customers was getting up to leave there table and the said table had a reserve on for the next customers half hour later. The kind staff put us on that table and arranged for the next customers to be seated elsewhere. The food was outstanding and reasonably priced, will definitely be calling in here again.
