Went for dinner with family, atmosphere is great with the new and old section of the pub, good selection of food, spoilt for choice actually. Service was great and attentive.

Decent-sized room, which was clean. Good bathroom, which was spotlessly clean.
Decent telly. Kettle and drinks sachets.
Good restaurant. Unfortunately I had to leave without having breakfast, but it looked good and smelled great.
The location is excellent, in a quiet area by a church. Good for walks. Close enough to Bolton if you need to go there.
Car parking is free just across from the main building.

I?m always looking for new places that have history and character, I?ve past this place many times and always thought one day soon?.when I did I was like why not before!
The place is fantastic, the staff 100% friendly and make you fell welcomed.
I?m one of those individuals who looks for something different unique and standout from the rest.
Black Dog is one of those places?.I?ve been a few time and today, I went with the family and extended family for Sunday food and drinks with a party of 16 and they delivered - the food was absolutely amazing!
I will definitely be back again soon ?

Ordered food, which was OK,
Had to ask how long food was going to be after waiting 25mins, food came but missing an order had to wait 10 minutes more and it was dry and under cooked.

Nice refurbishment and the food was fine - standard pub grub - but we did have quite a wait on the food, no problems we weren't in a big rush.
The biggest problem is they seem to be chronically understaffed. I hope the guys who were working are paid well (probably not though!) 'Cos they were working their butt's off.
I think they probably needed a minimum of 2 extra members of staff on, there were no clean glasses behind the bar -wine served in gin glasses - empty fridges and tables full of dirty plates and glasses everywhere. Not good.
This isn't a reflection on the staff who were on, but the management needs to have a good look at staffing levels.

Stayed in the hotel for one night on my trip from Canada needed a place to stay and this didn?t disappoint, room was great and felt at home with the cozy decorations, went for dinner at the pub and food was amazing. Great prices also excellent for everything u got from this hotel.

I've been coming here with my wife for a while and honestly there's no amount of stars that can show how great this place is, if you're in the area pop in, great food, great atmosphere and amazing staff.

I have visited this pub many times over the years and like a fine wine it just seems to get better and better
It's a Holt's pub so you get traditional style ale at £4 a pint.
Service is friendly and helpful as are the locals.
There is a large dining/function room which is well appointed.
The car park is really ample and there always seems to be room.
There's a dart board too
