Lovely place, 1st time visit, friendly welcome, went for the sunday lunch (turkey) when ot arrived after quite a wait saw it was swimming in gravy, no condements offered, food was luke warm and very disappointing, turkey bland, roast potatoes and stuffing were hard as a rock, i think potato had been sat around quite a while and was unpleasant to taste and a struggle to even chew. The veg were hidden under the meat and yorkshire pud and due to all the gravy drowning it made it all unpleasant we will not be going back althought at first sight thought we had found a lovely pub but without good food it doesnt matter how lovely the place was.

I went in last night with my daughter and my granddaughter for our tea, on arrival we were greeted by a young waitress who showed us to our table, we were seated opposite the bar near the window, a waitress came over and took our order for the drinks, we waited and waited and waited, my daughter then asked the waitress for our drinks, which she had obviously forgotten about (too busy talking at the bar)! .
We then ordered our food, i had lasagne, my daughter had the meat platter and my granddaughter had fish and chips from the kids menu, it was the worst meal I?ve ever had!! It was awful, very dry and I had to scape burnt bits of the side, i only ate it cause I was hungry, I?d been in work all day and got served that it was terrible!!
My granddaughter who is only 5 was served greasy fish that wasn?t cooked properly, my daughter said her meal was okay, we obviously complained to the waitress and she took both meals back and we didn?t pay for my meal, obviously my granddaughters meal was free with the offer they had on.
Certainly won?t be returning!!!

This pub has a designated outdoor area for people with dogs. Very clean and well kept.
Had some delicious home cooked food and a nice pint in the sunshine along with our four legged friends.
Will be back....very soon!

A spur of the moment decision on a Sunday late Sunday afternoon.
A Walk in without a reservation late on Sunday afternoon, the pub was relatively busy and there was a small queue of people waiting to be seated. Whilst guest were being seated, the lady behind the bar could see that we were waiting. She stopped what she was doing, she greeted us with a cherry hello, and confirmed if we had a reservation which we haven?t. She said it was no bother had a table available And it will only take two ticks to wipe down and set up. We both went for the Sunday lunch one roast beef one roast lamb the meals came to the table within 20 minutes and I have to say one of the best Sunday lunches I?ve had in years we finished off With one cheesecake and two spoons.
The staff here at the Horton were most definitely on their a game when we visited on Sunday. Polite professional and welcoming.
We will most definitely be returning to the Horton Arms.

I?ve lived in the area for 7 years and The Horton Arms has always been a 5 stars for me and my family, unfortunately not any more. Increased food prices, reduced food choice, atmosphere depleted, service not as good. Not once did any member of staff ask if we needed anything at our table or if everything was ok, this on a quiet day..

The Horton has always been a 'safe go-to for good food' ... and the staff are lovely and are what make this place so welcoming. We recently went and couldn't find any of the usual choices on the menu....such as the Trio of burgers, Beef burger, Pizza, Munch Mugs etc, which have slowly been faded out over the last year or two. Nothing else stood out for sharing, and some dishes such as the rice salmon dish at £20 seemed expensive for a light lunch...especially when you can get a similar dish at Wagamama's in Manchester for £15.20.
Hopefully, at our next get-together, we will see more snacking or sharing options for our group. As already mentioned, great pub 5*, great staff 5*, Food choice/menu 3* for our group.

We came here the other day when there was a bit of a rush. Safe to say we will NEVER return. The managers treat their staff terrible, especially the elder female manager. Food is mediocre at best and the toilets stunk of urine. As I?ve been told, the managers instruct employees to leave fake reviews and they?re the only think keeping this pub afloat. We used to love coming here until it?s come under new management. I can see from previous reviews they can?t take critism! Do not run an establishment if you cannot take constructive criticism. A message to the managers: treat your staff and HUMAN, and wash those loos!!!
I will not be surprised if I get a horrible reply no doubt from the elder woman who can?t keep her temper in check in front of guests!!

Table service and a reasonable varied menu with some decent ales and wines
