I was in the Bury store at 08 30 approx on the 22 August 2025, I was looking for a particular silicone removing tool so went to the counter to ask the female assistant she was so busy locking her male colleague inside another room by using her hands to prevent him from opening the door, for which they both found amusing that I had to call out to her.
I showed her the product I required and she showed me were it was, but she showed no interest at all in both her job or customer care.
I took the product back to the till and tried to communicate within this person but she couldn't even answer me until I said within her hearing ( how rude)
I have had similar experiences with thus employee and so gave decided to go elsewhere in future.
I suggest that this employee goes on an update in customer care and communications, or get rid because she isn't doing WICKES any good

Good range of DIY merchandise. Competitive prices. Use this store quite a lot. Some-not all-of the staff not full knowledgeable or helpful so research their website for you purchase prior to a visit. Store itself is clean and well presented with good stock levels

2 weeks ago, I went to Wickes Preston, and I was looked after, asked several times if I needed help. Had a 5* service at checkout. Today I visited Bury. Wow what a difference. The branch I buy from , even spent £10000+ on a kitchen
. Today I wasn't in my usual works van so didn't have my trade card keyring. The bearded Napoleon syndrome teller was instantly dismissive and not at all willing to check my company details, etc. to confirm.
Usually its not an issue, but this guy wasn't happy to help. So I said stick em.
B&Q is 5 mins away.
Preston staff brilliant. Bury? Not so.

Was overwhelmed initially in this location yet received amazing customer service from their worker Hannah, who took the time to explain as much as she knew about my issue, incredibly helpful

Given two stars as this is a store that doesn't have hinges although they sell kitchens and other appliances So a total waste of time.
I would recommend this store for any spares until they sort out issues that can help customers.

I had an absolutely horrendous experience with customer service at the Wickes store in Bury, Manchester on Monday, March 17, 2025. I spent around £200 there, and during my first visit, one of the staff members was shockingly rude and completely unhelpful.
I returned to the store to buy more items for a garden project and asked for help picking up some heavy garden tiles because my aunt is severely disabled, and I couldn't lift them myself. The staff member not only refused to help but also told me to pick them up on my own. Despite explaining my situation, they remained indifferent and dismissive. I was left feeling furious and utterly let down by this disgraceful treatment.
Furthermore, when I needed help loading some heavy items into my car, the staff member bluntly told me no one was available to assist, even though I could clearly see other staff members loitering around. In the end, a kind stranger had to step in and help me out. When I mentioned my disabled aunt, the staff's reaction was not only inappropriate but downright appalling. This experience was beyond disappointing; it was infuriating and unacceptable.

Placed an order online on Tuesday evening. I was given a delivery time slot of between 3pm and 7pm Friday that's fine.
Received a call at 7:45pm saying they didn't have time to deliver it. I said what time tomorrow? I was told we don't deliver on weekends, and it wouldn't be delivered until Tuesday. As it's the bank holiday on Monday I said well you won't be this isn't good enough as my planned fencing project was that weekend.
I asked for a refund.... Still waiting for my £139.
I thought I'd try Wickes instead of B&Q where I usually go. It's safe to say I won't be returning to Wickes to purchase anything for my house renovations.

We went in for exterior paint, and the sign above aisle 3 signposted us up this aisle - WRONG. The exterior paint was on aisle 4. We also wanted to look at something else, but that aisle was cordened off due to a fork-lift truck being used. We went looking elsewhere to waste some time and went back later. The fork-lift had gone but the aisle was still cordened off. So, forget Wickes, we went to B&Q.
Wickes, if you change your shelving, then change your signage, and, as soon as it is safe, re-open the aisles. You lost sales today.
