Just stood in a queue for almost 30 mins with a large box to send via Parcelforce, counter assistants saw me in the queue with the box. Get to the front only for them to tell me the 1.6m long but less than 2kg box was too big for Parcelforce... the same Parcelforce that delivered an XL Mountain Bike weighing 22 kg to me a couple of months ago cannot deliver a parcel apparently? What is the point of a postal service that is unable to post something? Useless! Wasted my time.EDIT: Believe it or not, collection has just been booked online... WITH PARCELFORCE!!!!

The staff here are amazing ,, so much knowledge needed to supply so many different services and it?s a demanding job that must be stressful. However there is usually ,, mostly just one member of staff servicing large queues and if you get stuck behind somebody with a query ?? I?ve been stuck there for 30 minutes at times with the Queue growing along with rumbles of discontent simmering amongst the growing line of disgruntled Customers behind you. They do have a counter at the entrance but if your withdrawing cash they have a limit that you can draw - under £400 so if you draw benefits above this rate you are sent off to the main counter no matter how long the Queue. My reason for this review is aimed at the Banking arm of the Post Office where I had a savings account ,, a basic account with no ability to set up direct debits or make purchases just a savings account ideal to separate my savings & in 5 years I never made a withdrawal but suddenly I received a letter DEMANDING that I link my savings account to a current account. Two things concern me here ,, WHY ??? and then there?s the appalling Customer Service - enquiries over the phone to the Bank itself provided no explanation - it?s our revised policy they told Me curtly pointing out that I could leave if I didn?t like it !!! ,, the letter was worded the same way and a member of staff I spoke to at the Post Office was initially dumbfounded by it , clearly knowing nothing about it.No reward for Customer loyalty then ?? ,, I withdrew the bulk of my savings leaving a modest amount in the account to see what the response would be ,, not surprisingly at this point I was bombarded by letters insisting that I link my account which frankly I find ludicrous. The Post Office branch have no control over the banking practices - they are not to blame and tried to help but I couldn?t put this information anywhere else and I did open the account at this particular Branch ,, warning !! please make sure that you don?t fall foul of this policy - the actual Bank itself treats you with contempt over the phone & they are rude and dismissive - that is of course WHEN !! you have passed the 30 mins Hold to get through to an actual Human being & furthermore they give no reason for this change of policy and do not respond to written Complaints. When I closed the account I felt they were glad to be rid of Me ,, the feeling was mutual.Despite its faults the Post Office Branch and Staff provide a lifeline to Thousands of People that no longer have access to a local Bank , in Atherton alone they have ALL closed.Strange then that they cannot manage their own Banking arm.A big Thank You to the Atherton Post Office Staff doing a difficult job.

I frequently use Atherton Post Office and have always found the staff to be knowledgeable, helpful and courteous. It can be busy at peak times but which Post Office isn't? Five stars every time.

The staff at the postage service are rude, not helpful when it comes to informing you about postal services e.g better pricing options or what the options are, short tempered, not polite at all considering they are the only place in atherton in which you can send your post off. They are not happy when you ask them to do basic activities which their job entails them to do so anyway and overall give a very unpleasant and unwelcome feel to the place.

Incorrect opening times listed. The times listed on Google and the Royal Mail website are 15:00 for Saturday this is incorrect. Frustrating.

The Post office part is all the way at the back. It can be hard to get too.
