I recently had an extremely unpleasant and disappointing experience at Co-Op Food on Arthur Road, Wimbledon. My son, who had saved his birthday money, purchased two Fortnite V-Bucks cards at £17.49 each, using his own cash. Upon attempting to use them, we quickly realised that only one of the cards had been validated. As any concerned parent would, I accompanied him back to the store to sort out the issue. What followed was a disgraceful and shameful display of unprofessionalism by both the manager and another member of staff.
Firstly, instead of helping us resolve the problem, they treated us with rudeness, sarcasm, and a complete lack of empathy. From the moment we brought up the issue, they were dismissive and outright unhelpful. It?s one thing to have a policy, but the attitude and behaviour displayed were completely unacceptable.
They essentially insinuated that my son was either lying or attempting some sort of scam to get extra V-Bucks. The underlying accusation of theft, whether explicitly stated or not, was clearly present in their tone. Imagine a child being made to feel like a criminal for a mistake that was likely caused by the store?s system or cashier oversight.
Despite my calm explanation of the situation, they refused to accept any possibility that their system could be at fault, almost as if they were more concerned about not taking responsibility than actually helping a loyal customer. No effort was made to investigate or resolve the issue in a professional manner. I was appalled that they were so quick to jump to accusations instead of offering a basic level of customer service.
It?s deeply troubling that a child, who was merely excited about spending his birthday money, was treated this way. As a parent, I expected better from a reputable store like Co-Op, but instead, I left with not only the issue unresolved but also a feeling of injustice and disgust.
If this is how they handle honest mistakes, I dread to think how they treat more complicated issues. I can confidently say I will not be returning to this Co-Op, and I would urge others to think twice before shopping here. There?s a fine line between enforcing policy and treating customers with respect, and this store has unfortunately failed on both counts.
Absolutely disgraceful service.

Some products are okay but I bought a cake that hadn't expired yet but when I tasted it, it was definitely off and had to discard it! For some reason this always happens at a Co-Op...???

Generally not a bad shop, however, if you buy anything from refrigerated sections, check the use by dates. Been caught out a fair few times with products that should not still be on the shelf and should have come off days before.

Wish I could give zero stars. They used to sell excellent scotch eggs - free-range eggs and British pork - pack of 2 for £1.76. Recently they appeared on the shelf with a label saying "buy 2 for £4". I pointed this out to the "manager", who was surprised, and said he would flag it to head office. Some days later, I went in, and they had sorted it out...They are now £2.55 for a pack of 2!A different "manager" thought this was all perfectly reasonable - even the fact that they are still listed on their website as £1.76 for a pack. This store is beyond awful. It is an absolute rip-off, and should be closed down. I have lived just round the corner for 50 years, and I've never known it so appalling. And don't bother calling customer services on the number on their website, there's just a recorded message telling you to go on a link in their website to leave a message.

Both Checkouts need to be opened when shop is busy , Staff are more occupied with online shopping orders than in-store shoppers .Staff can be hit or miss and not very helpful at times.

I always have to double check the price I get charged on each item, somehow they put a discounted price on the shelves but then you pay full price at the checkout and also have to request for the receipt if paying cash. How to kill a store brand with good products
