The current shopping experience is OK but WHSmith still hasn't sorted out my problems from before, due to problems trying to redeem a couple of coupons and a gift card, which has left me out of pocket

While the shop itself offers a decent selection and the integrated Post Office is a welcome convenience, a recurring negative experience with a member of the staff casts a shadow over the otherwise pleasant establishment. On three separate occasions, I've encountered a female staff member, presumably a manager of Eastern European descent, whose manners towards customers has been consistently unfriendly and bordering on rudeness. She often uses a clipped and abrupt tone when responding to inquiries. I've also witnessed similar interactions with colleagues, suggesting this behaviour may not be solely directed at customers. It's truly a pity that shop of this kind suffers from the impression created by this individual's conduct on the customer service frontline. Perhaps addressing this through constructive management intervention could prevent this isolated issue from detracting from the overall positive experience that I'm sure the shop strives to offer.

Always well stocked, but abit frustrating that they no longer have someone on the counter all the time and you have to press the bell and wait if want something behind the counter like football/Pokémon cards.

I found one member of staff on the shop floor, tills closed, only one self service till open.Long queue in the post office, staff helpful there but all self service tills in the post office area have been closed for a few weeks

I visited today to use the post office which I thought was still at the top of Sutton so I had quite the walk! (Haven't been to a post office for years) The post office was ok, 2 men on tills, got seen very quick to pick up a form.I took a look around WHSmith, everything seemed presentable and well stocked. I could only see one person working, his name was Martin. I did approach him to ask a quetion whilst he was restocking, he was more then happy to help and had a great attitude considering it looked like he was lone working.I filled out my form and went back to the post office to send it off but this time I ended up in a queue of atleast 20 people. It took a while to get seen but I can't blame the two men workers at the tills they were doing their best. I interacted with both the workers at the tills, both were helpful. I wouldn't say happy though, I wouldn't be either if I didn't have the right amount of staff to help with the queue.

Updatee:Visited the post office on a Friday at 9.30am, one man on the counter, over 15 people waiting and self serve checkouts are all out of order. Ended up walking out as did many. Bad service for Sutton. Not good enough.Came into the store today around 9.30am and to use Post Office service and all 3 self serve tills were out of service. When I asked the lady with the green hair, who I assume is the manager, that all 3 tills are not working, she responded by saying "clearly not, that's why I sent the customer to the desk" excuse me but there is no need to be so rude. With around 15 people waiting on the queue and only 3 staff serving and 3 broken tills. Disgusting service and the manager needs to do better with her customer service skills and not take it out on customers. If you cannot deal with the pressure of the job then my dear you are in the wrong job. Luckily I kept my mouth shut and did not cause a scene for her rude remark. Cheer up love

My first time going into this shop to use the post office. There was a long queue so I grabbed an envelope off a nearby shelf and started heading for the self checkout machines when suddenly a floor staff started yelling at me that I needed to pay for the envelope at the other counter. I told him thank you for the information and asked him if he knew if any of the self checkout machines were working. He was extremely rude with his reply.I rejoined the queue to reassess my situation as I was in hurry. At that moment the man started yelling at me again from across the store. Everyone was perplexed at his behaviour, I had to tell him to calm down.I did pay for the envelope in the end, the rest of the staff was courteous. The queue for the post office was a bit long but in the end it was fine.Having read the reviews before I was prepared to have a negative experience and my expectations were certainly met.

I wanted to buy David Walliams's book and I asked about free book but staff didn't know about free book. One person of staff sent me to another and I was sending from one person to another. Ended up with only one book.

I asked a salesperson where next year's diaries were. He pointed at the far wall, grunted over there and just carried on what he was doing. The diaries weren't where he said so I asked a lady who took me to where they were (no where near where the original 'salesperson', not that he should be called that was). If you can't be bothered to even be pleasant to customers, why work in customer service?

Super unhelpful staff. 3 persons in store, none can be bothered to help.

The post office queue can get long but the WHSmith side of things is fine. Look out for the vouchers you get when you make any purchase and the clearance section upstairs.
