This used to be my favourite filling station for a good few years until I discovered that Tesco/Esso and Sainsbury's are much more competitive and their prices are always cheaper. I also noticed that they increased their tobacco prices in March 2025 to a ridiculous amount of £17.95 per box in-store for the brand I usually buy when other rivals are selling the same thing for £14.30 per box. Made a complaint on their app only to be told the store is fully within their right to charge what they like. Well, if that's the attitude their customer services team have then customers like myself will vote with their feet and never return. It goes without saying that I swiftly uninstalled their app and have never been back to them since.

Thanks for your response. I fully agree with you that fuel prices will vary across the board for a variety of reasons. Thankfully, all filling stations in my area show their standard fuel prices on their LED pylon signs so it's very easy to compare fuel costs amongst competitors before making a choice. You didn't address my other complaint which is how can this Shell branch be charging £17.95 for a box of smokes when other fuel stations in the same area and other convenience stores on Portland Road are all charging £14.30 to £14.99 in-store day or night, for the same exact product. £17.95 is the price I'd expect and the price range I've seen if I was trying to use a food delivery service online, like Just Eat or Uber Eats.

I came in today to do some Amazon returns and the customer service was amazing! Mr Mathu served me and was so kind, while also managing the petrol pumps very efficiently and keeping an eye on both my needs and the environment. He multitasked very well and was so kind to me, I definitely feel like he deserves a raise!Shell on Portland Road is lucky to have such a caring and friendly team member!

I use this station for electric vehicle charging. There's 4 x 175kw chargers, each with Chademo and CCS adapters. 3 are in a bank on the left and you enter and 1 toward the rest of the shop. Typical Shell shop with a Costa machine.
