Not the best experience ive had at a wetherspoons. Me and a group of friends came to celebrate our A-Level results here. The pubs itself is lovely. Food is great and most staff are nice. However, my friend was unwell and one member of staff who refused to give her name to me, was very rude in this situation. She began to raise her voice at us immediately, and had no concern towards my friend at all. Although i appreciate that people who have too much to drink are not the staff?s problem, being polite in a situation where someone is vulnerable is just basic human decency. I went to speak to her, extremely calmly and just said how i felt she could have handled the situation differently and with more compassion. This staff member was very dismissive towards me and was obviously not well trained in how to handle customers issues in a polite and calm manner. She said i was a bad friend for not watching and looking after my friend, which i was doing, it just so happened that she suddenly went from drunk but fine too feeling very ill. Bare in mind that i am 18, and this woman was around mid 50s to 60. By the end of the conversation, her tone just got ruder and she was adamant that she handled things correctly, to which i think is just a matter of personal opinions. Clearly some people do not have the compassion needed to work in a place where these instances could occur, and i think that staff should be able to have compassion, while enforcing rules and boundaries, which this woman clearly did not have. Kindness is free.

They have completely removed anything on 'the grill', so goodbye to steaks, gammon, mixed grill etc.. I won't be back

The food in general is not as good, but hot wings worked. The scampi could have been much better and the burger, although full of sauce felt a bit bland. Beer selection was good. Coffee was also good. The service was very good, cannot fault it at all. The atmosphere was generally ok, people were in good spirits but the general pub is a tad dated. But for what it is, overall it's a good option.

Average 'Spoons - you can always predict the type of crowd you'll find in every single pub before you step-in. Cheap beer, average food, staff under pressure.
