I often experience a problem when visiting this branch location and today was no different. The branch often has a very large queue and it moves very slowly; this may not reflect the entire working week of the branch but when I visit, only occasionally, I am greeted by a large queue for the counter.
The reception desk rarely has a member of staff stood at it which means you therefore have to join the queue for the main counter, perhaps this explains my point above. The branch interior is outdated and very spacious, I feel they're due for a refit.
The waiting time to be served is excessive, sometimes more than 20 minutes. Today I spent approximately 24 minutes in the branch to simply make a deposit on my card, the queue simply did not move. It would be handy if staff would direct customers with more complex enquiries to a member of staff at the back or book them an appointment, as you often have somebody stood at the counter for 15-20 minutes without any progress being made and a limited number of cashiers.
I'd attempted to use the self-service machines but like usual, they were not working effectively and it rejected the entirety of my deposit on several occasions. This was due to customers damaging and using the machines incorrectly.
The staff in the branch are friendly, behave in a professional manner and are help but I do however have to provide the low rating based on the fact that I find this specific branch extremely hard to do business with, owing to the large queues and faulty machines. The atmosphere in the branch isn't very welcoming.
In the future I will try to use other branches to avoid these problems and would not recommend this location to friends and family. I would advise visiting on weekdays and perhaps in the afternoon for a slightly quicker experience, do not visit on a Monday due to excessive wait times. Thank you.

I had a fantastic experience with Mr Mehedi at the Nationwide Romford branch. He helped me open several savings accounts and walked me through all the details with each one.
