Here are a couple of incidents I experienced at Asda a few years ago that left me feeling disrespected.
As a customer who loves to be efficient, I used the Scan & Go app to shop. As I was walking around the store, I did what was advertised: I scanned items and placed them in my shopping bag. I then noticed a security guard following me. He eventually confronted me, saying I couldn't put items in my bag. I explained that I was using the Scan & Go app, but I felt targeted because other customers who weren't using the app were also using their shopping bags as baskets, just like I was. Instead of apologizing, the security guard just walked away.
On another occasion at the self-checkout, I had finished scanning and paying for all my items. A staff member who had been watching me decided to reprint my receipt and check if I had paid for everything without even asking.

The standard of customer service at this store is consistently unacceptable. Each visit highlights the same ongoing issues: staff appear untrained, disengaged, and completely unsupported by management. It is evident there is little to no oversight in place.
The claim printed on staff uniforms, *?happy to help,?* is frankly misleading. In reality, staff show the opposite attitude. When approached for assistance, they rarely speak, instead offering dismissive nods as if the customer is an inconvenience. This behaviour is not an isolated incident but a pattern seen across nearly the entire workforce.
For a business that relies on customer loyalty, this level of service is inexcusable. I strongly urge senior management to review CCTV footage and witness first-hand the unacceptable conduct that takes place daily. It is baffling that such consistently poor service has been allowed to continue unchecked for years.
Unless significant improvements are made in staff training, accountability, and management presence, this store risks losing even its most loyal customers.
