My daughter took me to this place for lunch on mother's day. We left the place especially disappointed at the bland scallops we had ordered as starters, and the wait of upto 40 min between the starters and the main. We didn't eat anything else that afternoon/ evening. In the middle of the night we both started feeling really unwell, including cramps and diahorrea. We have no doubt that the meal eaten at The Britannia was the cause.

Cane for a date night with my partner. Found a literal worm in my food.
Waiter was apologetic, offered another dish but my stomach had turned at this point.
My partner and I decided to leave as we had lost our appetite (she?d eaten a quarter of her meal at this point), yet they still tried to charge for her meal and everything else.
A decent place would have waived the whole food bill and had us just pay for the drinks, as we?d barely eaten anything by the time we discovered the worm.
When I questioned the food bill the attitude of the waiting staff changed completely.
Not a great experience in the end

Beautiful little hideaway when Richmond is busy. Excellent food and drink.

Surprise hidden gem tucked in one of the little cobbled lanes off Richmond Green. From the outside you would think it's your usual British pub, but once you step inside and see the crisp linen on the tables you know you're somewhere much more special. Staff are very friendly and listen attentively to your needs. Menu is superb, and food itself is delicious. Great wine list too with some interesting cocktail mixes you wouldn't find anywhere else.
Kid-friendliness: Very accommodating and friendly staff towards children. Plenty of highchairs and childrens options to eat.

Lovely lunch and bargain £28 quid for 2 course lunch. Food very nice, but on the rich side.

Gastropub two terraced. Well modernised old pub that I used to go two. Attentive staff. Great upper terrace especially if you don't mind noise of planes! Food ok but slightly average and could become more finessed

Great Sunday lunch.

We came here for a family lunch on Sunday 1st September and had a really great experience - we were seated on the roof terrace, which was lovely given the great weather, and the food and drinks were all of a really high standard, and were thoroughly enjoyed by everyone.
However, the other stand out here was the service, so a big shout out to Emily Farrow, as she was simply brilliant - nothing was too much trouble, she was so friendly, remaining professional and polite, and it is only when you receive such good service that you realise what a difference it makes to the overall experience, so great job!
Vegetarian options: The vegetarian roast here was absolutely delicious, and on this occasion comprised of all the usual fare, with a centre piece of roasted cauliflower which was cooked to perfection and seasoned just right.
Dietary restrictions: The staff were all extremely helpful in terms of accommodating the dietary requirement of people in our party, and this was really appreciated.

Visited on Sunday, the 25th of August. Once we arrived, we were greeted by a waitress who led us to our table. Considering the restaurant was mostly empty, they seated us in the middle of the passageway, which we did not appreciate as we were looking for something cozier. We ordered six oysters as a starter, one chili & crab pasta, and one sea bass with veggies as mains.
It took them 25 minutes to bring the oysters, which we thought was outrageously long, and after that, it took them another 35 minutes to bring the mains. No one cared to let us know why it took so long or simply to inform us that the food was on the way. To note, locals dining there had their food brought within 20 minutes of ordering.
They offered us half a glass of Prosecco and a Coke, just refilling our glasses without bothering to give us new, clean ones. Not a nice touch.
The food was okay, but it missed salt; the pasta was overcooked, and the sea bass was too dry.
We then paid the absurd sum of £136. Absolutely a rip-off?will not eat there again.

Only recently discovered this absolute gem! My partner and I recently attended for dinner and were lucky to sit outside on the balcony terrace. A really beautiful spot with fantastic service and great food. As small as it looks from the outside, the wonderful hidden outside area really is a highlight of Richmond! (Resident)
