The food is good and the location is pretty, but the pricing system is cheeky af. You have to get a set menu of either two courses (priced at 65 pounds) or three courses (priced at 75 I believe?). Sides and appetisers do not count towards this. My gripe with this is that if you're a vegetarian, you end up paying the same price for a slab of cauliflower as someone who's ordering a steak, which is a bit of a joke. Moreover, the space is absolutely crammed as they're trying to squeeze in as many tables as possible. The space is so loud as a result. Overall a decent meal but not somewhere I'm keen to go back due to these issues.

Nice place but the whole experience is a nightmare . Places are limited and plenty of rules around about absolutely everything . The teahouse closes at 4 - they allow you to access until 3:45 but then you have to rush everything as you only have until 4 to drink a coffee so basically you have 10 minutes to drink . The restaurant instead has tables outside where they don?t serve anything as you are only allowed to eat inside but again spaces are limited so it?s very hard to find a place. The staff is not friendly as they know they have people queuing up so they don?t care about you and lastly overpriced for what you get really. I get its a popular place but they really need to work on the customer service as it?s unacceptable to be treated like this considering that is not cheap and it?s in Richmond .

They need a new restaurant manager. We were there for a quick lunch but it took more than 40min to get our food, we asked several times. In the meantime people were waiting for a seat. The waiters run around in sad faces, you feel that they are really busy and under pressure.

Honestly left this place in tears. Booked a table online, showed up on time, got sat in a different area than the usual with a set menu of £60 pp. We said we didn't know it was that price (the writing is very small in the website and it's unclear that you are booking a £60pp meal if you are not british and don't know what afternoon tea is) we asked to queue to be sat in the other area of the restaurant and still eat at their restaurant. They still applied the cancellation fee of £30pp. My boyfriend and I, in our early 20s, paid £60 to walk out. Sad.

Seriously disappointing food.
Scallops just two in tasteless sauce and wing.
Risotto with Langoustine but no langoustine delivered on either plate.
Nice ?server? who did nothing, food delivered by surly man instead.
Seriously over-priced. We will not return and suggest there are much better options. No idea how they appeared in the Michelin guide.

Horrified at the price compared to the experience. Waitress was unfriendly and disinterested. Food was presented nicely but tasted very average. We'd have been better off buying a sandwich and piece of cake from Tesco's.

Service is slow. Sat for 20 minutes before food order was taken. Ordered a cocktail, arrived half way through starters. Ran out of pork, ordered steak, overcooked and only cooked on one side. Served myself wine during the main course as my glass has been empty for 10 minutes, when enquiring at the bar if it was the right bottle for the table, was told to ask the sommelier. When the bill arrived, for the first time, in a very long time, I asked for the service charge to be removed.

4.4 This is a combined review for two visits in quick succession. Our first visit was for lunch and we had a wonderful time, the food was delicious, perfectly cooked and well seasoned. We particularly enjoyed the tournedos Rossini which was a great retro dish, rich, and decadent and perfectly cooked. We were so impressed that we took friends for dinner a few weeks later but this visit was not so successful. The restaurant was very busy and standards had definitely slipped, the menu was the same but the cooking was nowhere near the standard of our first meal. The service was excellent and the setting is quite magical but appeared that they are not able to cope with such a high volume of guests and still maintain standards, maybe better for a leisurely lunch than dinner. We will go again as our first visit was excellent and give it another try.

My family booked this restaurant to celebrate my birthday. The service was very good and accommodating and the food, as one would expect, was absolutely delicious. However where this experience fell down was due to the coffee order. Firstly, the time it took to present 4 coffees took nearly 25 minutes!! One order of an Irish coffee took even longer and when it arrived it was stone cold. The barista apologised and made another to her own recipe. As far as I'm concerned an Irish coffee is an Irish coffee! Sometime later this coffee was served but looked like a latte and again was stone cold!!

Disappointed to have been refused a table on a Saturday morning after travelling 1.5hrs to get there with our toddler. Got there before the lunch service, only be told we would get a table for lunch but not for a tea and cake. We would have been in and out in 30mins but no effort made to accommodate us. Might as well tell people there is a minimum spend for a table.

We had lunch, and it was an amazing experience.

I?ve been walking to the nursery for years and enjoyed the tea, coffee & cakes, sometimes a salad. All those years I?ve wanted to go to the restaurant in the evening.
The restaurant decor and ambiance was beautiful and unusual. My starter was delicious and I think our guests enjoyed theirs. I had the beef and not overly impressed with the cream potato. Desserts were delicious. However, the bill was astronomical and I would suggest that people check their bank account before attending.

Petersham Nurseries Restaurant in Richmond is a lovely spot that feels like the British countryside. Surrounded by a beautiful garden, it?s peaceful and relaxing. The food is well-prepared and perfect for a weekend lunch. A great escape just outside London.

Incredibly expensive for the average standard of food. Like many others have mentioned, this restaurant has so much potential. The setting is truly exceptional and cosy at night, albeit a little cold in parts of the restaurant.
Starters were hit and miss ? the risotto was good but felt like it was missing something, and the scallops were similar.
For mains, I had to send my steak back as it must have been resting for ages ? it arrived barely lukewarm. When it came back, it had clearly been microwaved, so it was hot, but the potatoes were overly crisp by then. The sole was a decent portion but lacked seasoning, leaving it underwhelming considering the price.
It?s a shame because the atmosphere is stunning and could really elevate the experience, but the food just doesn?t live up to the setting.
