Hi Kaylan,
Thank you very much for taking the time to respond to my feedback and for addressing the points I raised. I genuinely appreciate how considerate and professional your message was ? it shows that you take both members? opinions and the overall atmosphere of the club seriously, which already sets a very positive tone.
I also want to say that, from my own experience, you personally come across as very approachable, warm, and genuinely interested in members? wellbeing. That kind of attitude is exactly what makes people feel comfortable in a gym environment, especially for anyone who might be new, a bit unsure of themselves, or simply coming in after a long, stressful day and looking for somewhere to focus on health and clear their head. Your approach is a good example of what I think most of us as members hope to see when we walk into a fitness space.
The reason I felt the need to leave feedback, however, is that there seems to be a noticeable gap between the atmosphere you create and the way a number of staff members on the floor interact with people. On many occasions over the last months (and honestly, over quite a long period), I?ve noticed staff standing or walking around with closed body language or quite serious expressions. They don?t usually make eye contact, smile, or offer even a small friendly greeting. It?s not about expecting long conversations, but rather that tiny gesture of friendliness that makes people feel acknowledged.
The absence of that can make the environment seem almost hostile or indifferent, which is unusual for a gym that otherwise has good facilities, new equipment, and a broad membership. At times, the vibe is so subdued that it feels more like a strict institution or an old-fashioned bureaucracy rather than a place designed to motivate people, encourage healthy habits, and create a sense of community. The word that comes to mind is a bit of a ?communist? attitude toward people ? that sense of formality and distance that can make members feel as though they?re being tolerated rather than welcomed. I don?t believe that?s anyone?s intention, but it is the impression that comes across.
I think this is why I wanted to emphasise how important staff engagement is. A simple smile or nod, or even a small ?hello,? can change the way someone feels about coming in. It helps members relax, feel like part of a friendly space, and often motivates them to stay committed to their fitness journey. Even when staff are busy, maintaining a positive and open demeanour can go a long way in shaping the club?s culture.
Regarding the practical issue you mentioned ? the accessible toilet light ? I truly appreciate that you explained what happened and confirmed that it has been fixed. I understand that sometimes maintenance takes longer than anyone would like, and I?m glad to hear the space is now fully operational again. Your transparency about the situation shows respect for members? concerns and helps rebuild trust.
I believe PureGym Lambeth has a lot of strengths: the equipment is modern, the location is convenient, the club is generally well-kept, and membership options are accessible. These are big positives, and they?re why I?ve stayed a member for over three years. Addressing the staff?s approach to customer interaction could elevate the overall experience even further and set the branch apart from others.
Thank you once again for listening and for taking my comments in the constructive spirit in which they?re meant. I?m confident that with the right encouragement and support from you, the team can easily develop a more open, welcoming, and motivating atmosphere that mirrors your own approach as manager.
Best regards,

Hi. Some feedback about the gym.
Cleaning in the men?s bathroom could be better. It?s smelly. Else it has improved.
The new equipment is very good. Feels great to use it and people keep it clean.
One big thank you goes to the new girl Paige. She really makes a difference. So polite and always looking for things to tidy up. The gym looks better since she has been here.

?????
In the two or three weeks I?ve been going to Purge, I?ve been paying for a premium subscription that supposedly includes flavored water. The funny thing is that in all this time, I still haven?t been able to try it?so I have no idea what it tastes like. Sparkling? Peach? Or maybe it just never shows up? ????
Could you please finally add some flavor to the water? That?s what I?m paying for . Thanks

Great gym with lots of new equipment and space but the general air quality is terrible. Also the air con was turned off during 30 degree weather.

Is impossible to workout without air conditioner off.

Well equipped gym, different and various gym equipment. Quite warm the temperature though.

As other reviews have noticed, the gym is too hot. During the recent heat waves I have visited a number of times where the aircon has been completely turned off and the temperature/humidity are extremely unpleasant as a result. Please keep this turned on like any normal gym rather instead of trying to claw back a few £s from lower electricity bills.
Edit: their response admits they?re doing the bare minimum by way of ventilation in order to comply with the law, while hiding behind a wholly unconvincing claim of eco-friendliness. Great stuff guys!!

Only 2 squat racks. Be prepared to queue 20 mins for your turn.

Very Poor ventillation especially in off peak hours unfortunately. Assuming to save costs.
Dont just do the legal bare minimum, you can feel the bad air quality.

By far the best pure gym ive been to yet. Spacious , variety in machines. The Only thing i?d say is the free weights downstairs need more plates but overall great gym.

PLEASE install roller blinds in front of treadmill windows, the treadmills are 99% unusable in the mornings as the sun shines in so brightly, it's blinding and the area gets extremely hot.
