“My nearest supermarket was skeptical to go there at first, and now I'm there on a weekly basis. Great fresh produce, and to top it off, they bake breads and pastries fresh in-house. They also do gadgets and clothes, so you really just go for milk and come out with a trolly of stuff !”

“Me and the owner of Lidl go way back. We used to go to school together in Streatham before they moved back to Sweden. He was a wacky guy and used to do chewbacca impressions for mints. I remember him letting off fireworks in the hall during a fire drill. One day his folks just got up and left. Turned out his Dad was a military adviser to the US on Swedish tank movements. This was the Swedo/Norway conflict of 1987 and the threat of war hung over Northern Scandinavia. The US was providing Sweden with hundreds of tanks to crush the Norwegians. Reagan hated Norway he was famous for it.”
