Be very weary about what the staff tell you is included in the membership. They will happily lie to you to get you to sign up.

Huw trumpet is an awful boxing teacher and they need to get rid of him.
He?s rude arrogant and thinks the class is about him rather than the students.

Friendly staff and an impressive make over of they gym - ongoing but positive.
Sadly still no cycle classes and no indication that they are returning.

New strength area and its super good with techno machine however the locker room still the same.
My concern is the price, I usually come and go to London and I have to pay monthly membership since there is no weekly pass unfortunately. Also still need to pay joining fee (more since I dont have a Uk credit card) even though I am not a new member and all my details is on the system.
Hope they do something in this regard cuz I come and go more often and every time I pay monthly for 5-7 days only

I was forced into joining this branch thanks to a work move. I?ve been a regular at Bank, Aldersgate, Angel and Cannon Street ? all of which set a pretty high bar. Mayfair, meanwhile, charges £200 a month on a 12-month lock-in, making it one of the supposed crown jewels in the Virgin Active lineup. It's probably more cubic zirconia than diamond.
First impressions? It?s filthy. The men?s changing rooms have a sticky film over the floors and benches. The toilets reek. The showers are worse - wet towels and stray plasters strewn everywhere, fittings sporting little specks of black mould. ?Luxury wellness?... maybe not.
At other clubs (Bank, Cannon Street, Aldersgate), cleaners are always everywhere, quietly keeping things absolutely spotless. At Mayfair, they?re rarely seen. It's really noticeable (or not).
The water fountains only manage a dribble of lukewarm water. There's nothing 'chill' about the water fountains - they clearly haven't fixed the refrigeration on them for years (something you get at other, lower cost Virgins).
Then there?s the gym floor. Absolute chaos. Dumbbells are never on the right racks - just dumped at random, like a student flat. Sure, that?s partly on the clientele (lots of people here seem confused without their maids), but at this price point Virgin should be policing it.
The gym floor itself should be great - it's vast and has a huge spread of equipment - when you can actually find matching parts.
To be fair, the staff are very good - especially at the cafe - friendly, helpful, and the only aspect of the place that feels vaguely premium.
But overall? There?s absolutely no justification for Mayfair?s ?flagship? status. Aldersgate and Cannon Street are far superior. Unfortunately, I?m now contractually trapped in this dirty, chaotic, sticky £200-a-month hostage situation.

For years now, the showers have been building up mould. It is absolutely unacceptable for a social club which positions itself in the luxury market to offer such a pitiful and disgusting service to its members. It's a lawsuit waiting to happen at this point, absolutely disgusting to have to shower in the humid air containing this mould.
Terrible management!!!

I booked a tour before joining because I was concerned about some of the bad reviews. Unfortunately, after waiting around 25 minutes with no one showing up or even informing me they?d be late, I decided to leave.
While I was waiting, the receptionist was openly gossiping about other members with someone else and even reading out private information aloud. He repeatedly told members that he ?didn?t know? and to ?go downstairs,? which didn?t feel very professional.
From the unwelcoming reception to the long wait, my interest in joining completely disappeared.

I?m absolutely exhausted by the experience I?ve had with Virgin Active.
I?ve sent at least 7 emails asking to end my membership on 25 July ? a very simple request. Instead of a clear response, I?ve received conflicting replies from Reece, giving me different end dates: first 25 July, then suddenly 20 July, and then even 16 July. It?s completely inconsistent and leaves me unsure what?s actually being actioned.
I also tried to sort this out in person at the club, but was told by James to just ?email instead,? which got me nowhere.
To make matters worse, my membership fee has been increased several times without notice, despite being on Vitality. No transparency, no communication, just more work for me to chase basic answers.
This whole process has been unnecessarily stressful. Virgin Active needs to seriously review how they handle membership management and customer service. I just want my account closed on the date I clearly requested ? no more back-and-forth.

1 towel = 1 star
If you're going to charge the prices of a premium gym and then reduce the quality of service then that is extremely disappointing. This gym used to have towels available in the locker-rooms to use after your workout for the pool or to shower etc and they have removed this essential facility (yes, I see this as a basic requirement of a premium gym). Until this issue is resolved, I will not be re-joining. It's clear management wants to use 'sustainability' jargon to cut on essential services and then still rip members off with premium pricing. It's sad how great the experience at this gym used to be and how cost-saving measures have turned it into a messy circus.

No working Air Con!!!!
They have made all the changes but did not upgrade the air conditioning. In class or on the gym floor the poor air conditioning system just gets to you. No air coming through, and thank god they got read of the red lightning as you felt like you are in a h?#%^r room.
Broken equipment, no customer service. You can't get in touch over the phone anymore if you can't make the class.
Membership charges without any notice, they put up your membership without you even knowing... disgraceful. You should send an email at least.
Over all poor service.
Very disappointing.

Used to be a great gym but now a rip off. I was a member from 2016 but had to cancel in April this year due to another huge increase in membership but continued decline in service that has been occurring in the last 5 years. Unhelpful, unfriendly staff that direct you to the customer service line that takes you 30 minutes to get through then you get cut off. Cold jacuzzi, dirty toilets, one towel allowed for your whole visit!!! Not enough classes to meet demand. Much better gyms around that provide excellent service for half the cost. Only gave one star so could post my review.

Non existent customer service. Impossible to fix any issue (example, a/c hasn?t been working for months; managers ignore all the enquiries; impossible to get through over the phone), no more towels in the changing rooms. The level is declining?
