I am disappointed to report, it was a very average experience. When we arrived no one greeted us so we walked down past the bar to be told to move back to reception. We were shown our seat but the greeting was far from welcoming. When ordering my husband wanted the sirloin steak. The waitress said they had it but wouldn?t recommend it as it was the fatty cut left and strongly suggested he choose the pork chop. He said he?d have the burger instead, but the waitress continued to encourage him to have the pork chop. What was that all about?!
We were sitting near the door and a couple came in without a booking. They were turned away. Ten minutes later they came back they had booked a table online. I found this bizarre why did they get turned away?!
The food came and was passable although the chips were so salty I couldn?t eat them. The burger was good but I could have got one like that anywhere, it just nothing special.
The restaurant setting itself is lovely, small and cosy just a shame about the food, and the staff. I am afraid we won?t be going back, it just meet the mark.

Two stars only because the food actually tastes very good but everything else about this experience was poor. We were told that the restaurant was out of steak so ordered burgers instead but then the waiter returned to tell us that actually the restaurant was out of burgers but had sirloin steaks which we discovered later were tiny. We were seated at 7 and ordered fairly swiftly but didn?t receive our mains until 8.45. Two of the six mains weren?t brought to the table with no explanation or apology and when questioned the waiter seemed shocked we would be chasing up the meals. The wait for the last two plates was up to 20 minutes. The wait staff seemed to have no understanding of our requests or the functioning of the restaurant in general, and were confused when we asked for more than one pot of ketchup for 6 adults with chips. We were offered free cocktails to apologise for the terrible service but the wait staff only asked one member of the party for their order. The food was (when it arrived) lovely but I would not return to this restaurant.

They have all the French classics. The escargot is served properly in the shell, but the seasoning is a little weak. After that, I had onion soup, but the seasoning was a little weak. The pepper sauce on the stake frites was a good match.

Laughably bad experience. A half empty restaurant and the service missed a beat at every step. Sitting across from an empty bar with a barman who had nothing to do yet failed to notice or help at any point. Long wait times, missed items, repeated questions which were already covered - and this is not a complex menu or order. Steak frites served drowning in peppercorn. A side salad of lettuce badly seasoned. The food was not horrible, just not good. A poor wine list which would be overpriced in a Michelin starred restaurant in London. Sad profiteering from a chef who is simply trading on the name with no view to quality.

The food here was good, and reflected the price, I recommend it as an experience.
However, my visit was mired by a poor staff experience. I had booked a table, but front of house insisted I was sat at the bar, said it was in the system as the bar, very briskly, and there was nothing he could do. When I showed my confirmation email, he simply then walked me to a table. Not a word of acknowledgement.

Sad to say this really isn?t up to the standard it should be. We waited 40 minutes to get our first drink- the waiting staff didn?t seem to understand the place at all. We were informed that they were short staffed that evening- but that doesn?t really excuse the fact that no-one seemed to have their eyes on the tables, spotting when tables were empty, needing drinks, needing cutlery or needing the plates cleared. Communication between the serving team and customers was lacking and there was a general feeling of staff keeping a low profile and hoping the customers wouldn?t notice. Perhaps the servers were mainly agency temps?
I?m grateful that we were comped the oysters after I complained when they arrived without cutlery, or the bread and butter we asked for- but only 2 minutes later another server tried to serve us a carafe of red (would we like to taste?) that we ordered for the main, and then the first course (beef tartar) was nearly served as well, before we pointed out the oysters had just arrived and we asked for the first course to come after the oysters.
Finally, the wild mushroom ravioli was a very small portion, with barely any of the promised truffle, and cost £27 a plate! It felt mean, and executed very averagely indeed. I have had better in many many other places with more modest reputations.
If they get the service right, they may be able to justify the prices, but on a night like this £173 for a disappointing meal for 2 is something most punters will remember and not want to repeat. Very sad- feels like a hard one for them to turn around- perhaps the closure of Pollen Street Social over the road has had a collateral effect on this place? There just wasn?t any understanding of the customer experience from what we saw from the serving staff.

I?ve been a long time guest and used to enjoy great meals here. Unfortunately, over the last 12-18 months or so the quality of the food and service has continuously deteriorated to a point where - for the first time - my food today was inedible. The risotto I ordered today was so salty, it wasn?t edible and actually caused a sore mouth from just trying. It?s a shame as I used to love the restaurant but the downward spiral it?s been on for a while seems to continue?

Truly shocking. Jason Atherton should be totally embarrassed.
We have eaten in many of his restaurants across the globe, and always been very impressed. But not tonight. The food was so salty. My crab starter looked great - but even leaving the samphire to one side, was overly salty. The main course steak was smothered in salt, and covered in a very salty peppercorn sauce. We discused with the server, and sent it back. the replacement steak had the same sauce, but in a jug.......however the steak was seasoned with so much salt that it was inedible. The server tried a piece and agreed. It was sent back. The feedback from the chef was that the steak was well seasoned (after being told that the first steak was too salty), but 'the centre of the steak would be fine' !! The server (manager ?) tried her best by apologising profusely and by giving us free desserts, wine and liqueurs - all unasked for, but appreciated. However, whilst generous, it doesn't change the fact that we came here to eat good food but didn't get it. My wifes Coq au Vin was also very salty, but to be fair, our friends fish dishes were good. Felt like they were scraping the barrel with one or two of the servers as well. We will give Jason Atherton another chance, but the pedestal that I had him on is rocking close to it's limit. I fear the fall could be fatal.

Very disappointed, would not recommend. The food was generally poor and the service was atrocious. Full explanation below.
Service: This restaurant had the worst service of any restaurant I?ve been to in my adult life. Our waiter forgot our orders, spilled water and wine whenever serving, had to be waved at repeatedly to get their attention (despite the restaurant not being busy). Our mains took a while and were served separately so that the first dish arrived 5 minutes before the last. When we left we had to go into the cloakroom ourselves and go through the coat hangers to find our jackets because after we paid we were completely forgotten. Besides that, our waiter was generally quite brusque and impolite.
Food: Our bread for the table was stale. I ordered a burger and the bun for that was stale while the patty was chewy and overcooked. NONE of the food appeared to have been seasoned at all so everything was very bland. Had some French onion soup and tomato soup both of which were good but again seemed completely unseasoned so we had to ask for salt and pepper. We ordered some vegetables as a side which were cold upon arrival and very bland as well. Overall the food ranged from mediocre to very poor.
Atmosphere: very pleasant, although briefly interrupted by our waiter dropping and smashing a plate on the other end of the room!

Great food for a really decent price. Beautiful little restaurant tucked away in Mayfair. Super friendly service from our main waiter, fairly rude/cold service from another one. Nothing too taxing. Tartar was fabulous, tomato starter nice and fresh. Steak fantastically cooked and the peppercorn sauce to die for. Burger was good, surprisingly great chips. All in all great value for money in a nice atmosphere, can defintiely recommend it you?re in the area looking for something in between casual and fancy.

One of the senior staff waiters was extremely rude. Place has no diversity. While the food was nice would not recommend if the service isn't good.
