I came here for dinner with my partner, the staff are amazing, the food was ok and the atmosphere was lacking. Has potential but it still has a way to go

Amazing little hidden gem, few steps from Aldgate station. Very professional and polite service from all staff. Linguine,zucchine e gamberi pasta and branzino (seabass) & sorbetto al limone were our absolute favourites! Highly recommended. Paired white wine, especially Pinot Grigio from Sicily was lovely. Great Sicilian vibes, we'll definitely be visiting again!

What is a chef with such talent, and a team of young, efficient, marvellously kind, and welcoming waiting staff, special thanks to Andrei (you deserve the next top award to be celebrated), Yahiya, and the seafood loving waitress from Malaga, doing being hidden away in the atmosphere lacking basement of a hotel in Whitechapel?! So much better than I had expected, and with such delicious food and service that we will definitely be going back to eat here despite the hotel lobby, breakfast room vibe.Everything my husband and I tried was delicious, and, better than that, created with both skill, care and high quality ingredients. The insalta di mare featured a generous portion of moist yielding and flavour packed pulpo, the caponata brought an authentic splash of Palermo to London, the olive oil and focaccia were ace, and my main of branzino still makes me grin with delight the day afterwards. Never has seabass seemed so luxurious. Moist, plump, yielding flesh resting on an oozing tomato, oil, & capers flavour packed bed of delight. I left the plate clean, bar the tail fins! Great wine recommendation from Andrei, the Carratto, served in my husband, Andy´s, and my favourite half carafe measure, being the perfect accompaniment to a top fish based meal: (Andy´s cod cheeks were top too).Anyway, I urge you to dine at Sotto Cucina & Bar, this small oddly placed restaurant deserves to be visited, the staff congratulated, and the excellent menu enjoyed to the full. Service in London has diminished so much since brexit, not here the team are so helpful, positive, funny and knowledgeable. Food was far better than expected, wine list is limited but expertly chosen, I?ve just ordered two cases of the montepulciano, very good.We enjoyed the cured meat, just one saucisson, looked unappealing but was very tasty, anchovies good too.Mains, cod cheeks were excellent, super hot and crispy and the chilli in the broccoli was perfect.Sirloin came over cooked to our liking but there was no issue getting it replaced, and it was worth it, very good.Chocolate chilli tart was lovely.Strange place to have in the Hyatt hotel, but we will definitely be returning to try more of the menu. Great food, excellent staff

Food was good, we loved the grilled sea bass! Starter portion size could be improved. Service is great, staff was very attentive. My friend and I had a good evening and we had a table outside their terrace too!

The service was very friendly and good. The dishes would be better if it were served on hot plates. The dishes were nearly cold. I hope the waiter passes on my suggestion to the cook. Therefore only 3 stars.

A little gem that you won?t notice if you walk past on the street. It was pretty quiet at lunchtime, but great food and friendly staff.

I?m very sad to say Zoom was way below our expectations. We couldn?t sit at the table we wanted to for an undisclosed reason. After being told that the ?kitchen is busy? we waited for an hour and a half for our food, just to get raw, uncooked steak at our plates. Tried to switch it, got rubber steak instead. Most of the side plates were unavailable to order. We are simply shocked.

They have a private hire dinning area separated from the restaurant which is great for private dinners or private events. The events manager Manon is really easy to communicate with for event planning!

Held a party of about 17 guests in their private room and had a great time. Staff were very kind and accommodating throughout the whole process from booking to the end of the night. The food was great and everything was pretty affordable. Highly recommend if you are looking to hold a party without all of the faff of minimum spend and high deposit fees.

It?s at the bottom of a hotel. No atmosphere at all (Valentine?s Day and we were one of only 3 tables). Food was okay but didn?t blow us away, small portions and overpriced for what you get. My girlfriend (who found it on TikTok) was disappointed.
