Great place. In Love!

After leaving the 8 bar having visited two days in a row, we stopped by stage bar to have one last drink. It was mainly to listen to some entertainment. Two bar tenders working it was about 10.30pm one was visibly miserable from get go, lacking the hospitality-make you feel welcome. We go out in groups and it is not uncommon for a group to ask for a bill to be split in our case the total divided by three. This bar tender started with oh well you know if you split it the service charge will be added individually or something along those lines. That instantly got my back up because we are splitting the bill you have presented us, what is your issue? Then this unnecessary back and forth. It was not about the service charge which by the way is discretionary. It was clear he was irate by being asked to split the bill. It took him quite a while too, every other server brings a PDQ machine, gets a calculator and splits a bill very simple instruction!
The customer is not always right and I would put my hands up; not in this case. The kind of attitude from this bar tender on 30 August is not what hospitality needs in this day and age. He really killed the vibe! I don?t go out to argue with people I go out to have a good time.
In the UK, service charges in restaurants are optional and customers can choose to pay or not. Restaurants can decide to add a service charge, which is typically between 5?15% of the bill.
The Employment (Allocation of Tips) Act 2023 will come into effect in the UK on October 1, 2024. This act will require employers to ensure that workers receive the full tip from customers. In this case would have never tipped!
The issue was never about service charge but just in case this is not clear to some of your staff a tip is usually about good service it has almost become an expectation in some of these establishments irrespective of service good or bad!

A wonderful place to visit for a cup of tea, great dessert or a glass of champagne. The atmosphere is calm and cozy yet with a luxurious notes. Service is attentive and fast. They also have live music during some evenings. 10 out of 10.

Fantastic afternoon tea for my birthday. The staff was incredibly nice and explained everything to us. The food was delicious and the ambiance wonderful. I only have to take one star for the ambiance because people could just freely come in and sit down. It would feel better if it was a bit more secluded and exclusive. But we had a fabulous afternoon here.

We went to the Londoner for afternoon tea to celebrate a special birthday and were very disappointed. The tea lounge is in the lobby area and we were sat to the right of the hotel entrance, away from the main lounge; we almost felt like ?add ons?. Thus it lacked atmosphere and people were coming in for take away cups of tea and there was general hustle and bustle. The sandwiches were ok, not exactly melt in the mouth moments like other five star hotels. The scones though, were delicious. Sadly we will not return and not recommend this five star hotel for afternoon tea.

I'm very disappointed with the service. After day at work at one of the Mayfair restaurant`s me and my partner decided to have a afternoon drink at the hotel. Unfortunately after getting the table at the bar/ launch area nobody approached us. We have been seating there for a while and when the member of the stuff approached us it was only for us to move our seats to different table, without any explanation. Very disappointed in my first experience at the hotel.

I have tried so many afternoon teas in London, and this one was up there with the best! From start to finish, we had an amazing experience. The service was outstanding, and the best part was that nothing felt rushed at all. In total we spent over 2.5 hours in the restaurant, chatting away and enjoying the live music. Highly recommend to anyone looking for afternoon tea in London.

Great selection of tea and sandwiches. The cakes are just WOW!!! So far the best afternoon tea I have ever had, I highly recommend it!!!

Pleasant atmosphere and decent cocktails offset by the appallingly poor food.

Had afternoon tea for Christmas at the Londoner today. Chose it over the Ritz which was a mistake.Food was average - some of the sandwiches were nicer than others, the scones were amazing and the pastries too however, when it came to the pastries, we sat down at 3:30 and by the time we chose our pastries (around 5:30) there were barely any left so we found we had to chose from only a few options which was frustrating given other tables had clearly had the opportunity to already chose theirs with a ?reserved? sign being place around them.In terms of atmosphere, we got sat on a table right by a wall which meant we couldn?t even see half the room. The table was outside of the cordoned off area for ?the stage? which meant we were right in the middle of the walk way between the entrance, guests rooms and people moving around the hotel generally. On top of this, we were sat right in front of the stage which meant we could barely hear when the live entertainment was on. We asked to move to a different seat, as there we plenty empty when we sat down. We were told all tables had been specially requested and so we had to stay put. No one sat down for about 30 minutes in any of these tables and those that did appeared to only have a few cocktails and some olives. For what we were spending, we felt this was disappointing and there was no where we saw where we could request a specific table (?) we had this booked for months. The only thing we can say was great was the service. The lady who served us was lovely, very attentive and pleasant. All in all, would I go back? No.
