Superdrug staff need some serious training on racial profiling. I am outraged and offendedAs soon as I walked into the store (Wednesday 28th 11.45am, wearing a long pink winter coat for reference) the security guard decided I am suspicious and it his duty to stalk me. I went there to buy 3 products , an eyebrow pencil , body lotion and pain medication . I walked in and went straight to the first aisle where they store makeup products .As I walked in the security guard was walking forwards towards the second and third aisle but backtracked when he saw me and decided to stick to the first aisle. I thought that was weird but carried on shopping . I made excuses to myself thinking ?they always keep a close eye on the makeup section , it?s easy to steal small things ?, always trying to see the good in people . There were 4 other people in the store all white, and me .Another white customer joins the makeup aisle , I find the product I need and move onto the next aisle .I say to myself, ? if this security guard follows me to the second aisle and leaves the other customer in the first makeup aisle ? he has a problem with me ?.Lo and behold I move onto to the next aisle looking for body lotion and there the security guard is , leaving the white customer in the makeup aisle and keeping a close aisle on me. There are 4 other (white!) customers in the store .I?m annoyed now , I move onto the third aisle looking for medication, there he is looking at me. I make direct eye contact with him and say ?are you ok??. He says ?yes? started to look uncomfortable and then began doing circles around the store and keeping an eye on ALL the customers AS HE SHOULD HAVE DONE FROM THE VERY BEGINNING !!Not just the BLACK customer you scumbag.There were 4 other customers in the store and he decided to dedicate all his attention to ME.I pay for my stuff and the security guard is standing by the door talking to a colleague as I am leaving.I say to him ?is there a reason you were following me??He said ?me? No I was watching everyone?with a forced fake uncomfortable smileI respond ?it seems like you were watching me a bit closer??He says ?no no ? ? more uncomfortable smiles and shrugsStaff clearly need training on racial profiling and unconscious bias. He decided as soon he saw me that I am a potential criminal/thief and I am the customer he should keep a close eye on .Anyone else had a similar experience ?Any advice about what I can do ?I will be posting my experience on social media platforms.If it happens again I will take a photo of the security guard and post on social media .Superdrug train your staff not to treat black customers like thieves and criminals . Disgusting experience
