I recently had a furniture collection arranged with the Bristol team of box move for and behalf of the Sue Ryder foundation and while I want to commend the service in part, there are serious issues that need to be addressed.
On Friday, September 5th, two team members arrived, Rory and Michael. Rory was kind and polite throughout the visit, but Michael's behavior was a cause for concern. When I asked him a simple question, he responded in a very sharp and aggressive manner. I acknowledged his point, but when I gently mentioned his tone was uncalled for, he became defensive, citing a late night at work. His dismissive attitude left me feeling very uncomfortable.
When Michael returned on Monday, September 8th, his mood seemed to have improved. I thought it was an opportunity to share some friendly feedback and suggested that taking out his frustrations on customers isn't a good reflection of the charity. To my surprise, he became instantly defensive and told me he didn't care what I wrote in a review.
After I helped calm him down, he apologized and even offered to help move the wardrobe outside, which I appreciated. I truly believed his apology was genuine and that we had resolved the issue.
However, my positive feeling was shattered when I received a call this morning from the Sue Ryder foundation Blackwood shop, which had a completely different and untrue account of events. I was shocked and dismayed to be accused of aggression and to have Michael's unprofessional conduct projected onto me. It is deeply upsetting that I was at no point in call asked for my version of events. To have my experience twisted in this way, especially when I had originally chosen not to complain to protect Rory, who was so professional.
I am appalled by Michael's manipulative behavior and the dishonest way he has reported this incident. This situation is a terrible reflection on the Sue Ryder foundation and Box move organization, and I felt it was important to bring it to the attention of others that being a charitable person doesn't always have a great outcome.
