Fresh Madeleines to takeaway straight out of the oven. ?

Started with the smoked eel and tomato with pickled walnut which was a great contrast. The pig?s head pie a standout for me, seasoning was great and the meat was superb considering it's a pigs head! The chickpea and goat curd was also a particular delight. The deserts were rich and comforting. Madelines to take away which I already know are a winner. Everything tasted amazing, and the service was warm and friendly. 10/10 recommend.

First time at this location and I left just as pleased as I did Marylebone. The menu was just as good, but different. More options to choose from than could be consumed. Many standout flavors with all the basics nailed. Incredibly fresh and exciting ingredients all around. Friendly and helpful staff. We were fortunate to try the Knickerbocker Glory for dessert which was mind melting. They have baked goods for takeaway too! Would definitely recommend.

St. John is such an old-school institution and still one of the best dining experiences in London.
They make nose-to-tail eating feel really accessible, and every dish we had was absolutely delicious.
We were a big group, but the service was still attentive and friendly throughout ? no small feat! Love this place and can?t wait to go back.

Simply delicious. We had 2 starters (the kohlrabi salad and the beans, oh my, what a perfect balance of oil, acidity and salt around sweet and crisp vegetables) and the ox tongue (with mushy peas). The meat was delightfully charred and tender.
The two red wines we ordered were served quite warm (too warm for our taste), but the Grenache Gris suggested to us paired well with our main (and was a good temperature).
On a Thursday during lunch, perhaps half the tables were occupied. The atmosphere was quite laid back, I can imagine it getting very noisy when the restaurant is full.

What an absolutely nice Restaurant this is; they have several restaurants in London but not all by the same name. By night a restaurant but by day also a bakery and a wine shop! The food is amazing, French-English modern styled and they are fantastic in Nose-to-Tail dining! The Restaurant we had dinner in, is located in Spitalfields opposite to the Church and Foodmarket. The place looks very authentic and minimalistic with brown chairs and tables and all white walls. Service is excellent, staff is very friendly & helpful. The menu changes daily and there are a few daily specials. We ordered the Cod?s Roe and Crab on Toast to start and were absolutely amazed by both. After we tried the Chicken and Ox Tongue Pie, quite heavy but also very delicious! Sadly we were too full for dessert but these looked very tasty too. They have a massive wine selection so surely you will find one that pairs well with your chosen dishes. We had been recommended this place by another restaurant in the neighbourhood and spontaneously went there on a Sunday evening late. We were very lucky to get a table without a reservation. Do make a reservation in advance. We would definitely visit again when we are in London.

My daughter and I loved the food here. My husband is less adventurous and liked most of it. The service was extremely good. I couldn?t decide on a wine and after a few questions I waiter came up with one I loved. They could use some sound buffer to bring the noise level down a little for those of us who cannot hear well but otherwise we loved it.

Really amazing meal. Hard to find food of this type and level. Service was fantastic. Great wines. My only slight quibble is the apple sorbet and vodka dish we had. Vodka should have been a slightly higher grade of vodka. Otherwise a perfect meal.

Have been here a couple of times before but the last time I came the food was extremely salty which was a bit disappointing. We had the grilled Jon dory and the faggots - the faggots were so salty I could only eat tiny nibbles with heaps of the cabbage. Otherwise, the staff are lovely.

Service was great. Very polite, recomendations included, and a friendly explanation on how the restaurant works when it comes to its menu. The place is very nice, minimalistic, clean, not pretentious, and conmfortably located. Food was great, although the meat temperature wasn't the best...a bit below expectations. We unfortunately had a very rude table right besides us that spent the whole dinner looking at my partner and myself, and chit chating about anything we did...as if going to have dinner at a great place is not good enough to mind your own business. Bute despite this St John doesn't dissaoint and it was a great enjoyable experience. Would love to come back!
PS: the place has a lovely and savory bakery too

Casual but always delicious. Make sure to make a reservation way ahead of time because it's always packed. They have a chalk board with specials on it which is often sold out shortly after the restaurant opens.
