Quirky venue shared with a mill, but it works. The food was very tasty with a sharing plates concept, which was along the fine dining lines. All of the dishes we tried were good

SlowBurn is a vegetarian restaurant located in Walthamstow, London. It is open only on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays and specializes in vegetarian delicacies. The restaurant shares space with the jeans workshop Blackhorse Lane Ateliers, giving it the atmosphere of a factory canteen. Tried the Padron chili (with smoked miso sauce, recommended!), Cornish squid bisque (average taste) and pork belly (with a bit of Chinese flavor). The overall portion is on the small side, so vegetarians or light eaters are recommended to try it. The price is a bit expensive, and meat eaters may not be full.
SlowBurn is a veggie-forward eatery located in Walthamstow, London, open only on weekends. Sharing space with Blackhorse Lane Ateliers, it has a unique ?factory canteen? vibe. Tried the Padron peppers with smoked miso dip (recommended!), Cornish squid and cuttlefish bisque (average), and braised pork belly (reminiscent of Chinese braised pork). Portions are small and prices a bit high?ideal for light eaters or vegetarians.

Really enjoyed our Sunday lunch at SlowBurn. The place has become really trendy in east London, but despite the sharing, small plates concept it?s not a rip off and tastes delicious (differently to many many other east London restaurants who simply take the mickey out of you these days).
We had cauliflowers fritters, ravioli and the squid. Would highly recommend. The chocolate mousse with mango was incredible, too.

Excellent food in a wonderfully quirky location. One of the very best restaurants in E17.
Vegetarian options: The vegetables are the star here, with a small selection of meat and fish options serving as side dishes to veggie mains.

The food was perfect.
This is the kind of place where you may get a little angry at the waiter for taking an empty plate too early, if it still has some sauce left on it and you had plans to mop it up with bread ?

Average food, not worth the price. Interesting setting in the clothes factory, staff and drinks were nice. But the food was not as good as I hoped, the veg dishes were quite expensive for how much you get. The best dish for flavour and value is the chicken which you get lots of. Other dishes like the veg ones, pasta and fish were not worth getting

The setting is actually very enjoyable. Removes you from the normal hoity-toity establishment serving high end food.

Unbelievably cool hidden gem near Walthamstow that?s based in an active denim factory. You?ll walk past samples and equipment to get to your table and in a way it doesn?t feel real.
But it?s no gimmick, they?ve got the grub to back it up and some innovative takes on humble vegetables to take them to the next level. Walthamstow is missing a selection of vegan spots so this is a must visit if you?re so inclined.
Vegetarian options: Lots of vegan and veggie options

GO HERE. IT IS GREAT. The concept of a restaurant inside a working jeans factory would, in somewhere like Hackney, feel oppressively wanky. Luckily in Walthamstow it feels much more chilled and low key. The food here is great. Literally all the dishes are good. You can order anything and it will be delicious. And meat or fish is a supporting character here. Veg is the main deal and they do it so well. The large, shared tables feel welcoming, with the slight nostalgic feel of eating in a school chemistry lab. Only dampner was we were, whilst still comfortably within our time, asked if we'd like to move to a different table for our dessert so some other people could have our table. Really beyond not cool unfortunately and quite embarrassing. Nevertheless, although I may not return personally, it's a great place that I would highly recommend.

Tucked away in a denim factory, SlowBurn offers a dining experience that seamlessly blends industrial charm with culinary artistry. From the exposed brick walls to the soft, ambient lighting filtering through vintage Edison bulbs, every inch of the space exudes character. The high ceilings and steel beams of the factory, are softened by the cozy, rustic furnishings that invite you to settle in for an unhurried meal.
SlowBurn?s ethos is simple yet profound: good food takes time. This philosophy is not only reflected in the deliberate pace of the meal but in the thoughtful, well-curated menu. Each dish here is a celebration of time-honored techniques, local ingredients, and global flavors, and it all comes together in a way that encourages guests to savor each moment.
We began our meal with cauliflower fritters and garlic aioli, a deceptively simple dish that set the tone for what was to come. The fritters were golden and crisp on the outside, with a tender, almost creamy interior. Paired with the garlicky aioli, they were the perfect balance of crunch and richness, with just a hint of sharpness from the garlic to lift the flavors.
Next came the Padron peppers with smoked miso dip, a small plate that packed a surprising punch. The peppers, with their subtle heat, were smoky and slightly charred, perfectly complemented by the umami depth of the miso dip. It was a dish that lingered on the palate, inviting you to savor every bite.
The black bean gyoza tacos with coriander salsa were an inventive twist on fusion, marrying Asian and Latin American influences in a dish that was light, fresh, and vibrant. The crisp gyoza shell contrasted beautifully with the soft black bean filling, and the coriander salsa brought everything together with its bright, herbaceous notes.
One of the standouts was the Sriata aubergine in San Marzano sauce. The aubergine was roasted to velvety perfection, absorbing the rich sweetness of the San Marzano tomatoes. The sauce itself was a masterpiece, balancing acidity and depth with a slight tang that brought out the best in the aubergine.
We followed this with the purple sprouting broccoli with green mustard peanut and sweet chili sauce. This dish was a revelation. The broccoli, tender but with a slight crunch, was the perfect vehicle for the green mustard peanut sauce, which had a wonderfully nutty complexity. The sweet chili added a subtle sweetness and heat, making this a dish that danced on the palate.
And then, the grand finale: SlowBurn?s Signature Smoked Somerset Saxon free-range chicken. This dish is nothing short of a masterpiece. The chicken, smoked to perfection, was succulent and flavorful, with a deep, earthy smokiness that could only come from hours of careful preparation. The accompanying jus was rich and deeply satisfying, tying the whole dish together with a subtle smokiness that lingered long after the last bite.
For dessert, we indulged in the dark chocolate coconut lime leaf ganache on ginger soil. It was the perfect ending to the meal?luxuriously rich yet balanced with the brightness of lime leaf and the subtle spice of ginger. The contrast of textures, from the smooth ganache to the crumbly ginger soil, made each spoonful a joy to savor.
At SlowBurn, every dish is a testament to the time and care put into its creation. It?s not just a restaurant; it?s an experience. The ambiance of the denim factory, combined with the thoughtful pacing of the meal and the impeccable service, creates a space where you can escape the rush of everyday life and indulge in the beauty of slow, intentional dining.

The staff are always absolutely lovely, the atmosphere great and the food delicious. The veggies taste as fresh as if they were made at home. All the dishes are fairly healthy and well-proportioned and you leave feeling completely satisfied but not sluggish and overfull. A reasonably priced meal that always feels like a much more expensive treat

SlowBurn is not a place just to dine in, it's an experience. My husband and I are impressed by the food, the atmosphere, and the team. We cannot recommend them enough.
Thank you, SlowBurn.

Unusual place to have a restaurant, the lighting is just enough to set a nice mood. Food tastes great! And you can find a lot of vegetarian options. The cauliflower and the courgettes were really good.
