Rules is undoubtedly the oldest surviving restaurant for several very good reasons.. the decor the staff, the service and the quality is all of an exceptional standard, from the moment you walk in you are taken back in time, the history from the numerous paintings, photographs and drawings that adorn the walls is amazing in its self, to think that the likes of Dickens & HG Wells have graced its presence is a true testament to the Long standing of Rules, if I had the time I would dine here every day..!!

We had lovely evening in Rules for my birthday, food was amazing, service great, lovely atmosphere and made my birthday special. We took our 11 year old son along which is the minimum age for evening bookings. They did ask as we went in, his age but were fine when we said 11, he really enjoyed it to, it was a lovely experience for him.

Fantastic decor with lots of atmosphere. Food : Starter disappointing (dressed Crab & Onion Soup)
Main: Cod with a mussel curried sauce was excellent & monk fish was good but slightly over cooked but still enjoyable.
We didn't have desert as we were full.
Service was good and friendly.

Super gents type club upstairs..all welcome.
2 things I'm surprised about..they can't make gravy or jus...like water and tasteless...it needs reducing guys !!
The other is that they've locked the hot taps in the toilets...you need to wash Ur hands with hot water.

If you?re looking for amazing service and outstanding food this is the place to come. Our server Louigi was outstanding, he made us feel like royalty and could not do anymore for us, his knowledge of the wine menu and food was spot on.
Not our first visit and most definitely not our last, pricey but well worth it.

A London resident for 30 years, I imagined that Rules might be a bit of a 'tourist trap' and had never visited before. Big mistake. The atmosphere is lovely, very relaxed and friendly. The food is really very good and there's plenty of it, but it's the staff who make the place a real treat. They were kind, attentive, friendly and very professional, so a big thank you to all of them. They made our visit a memorable one and we will definitely return.
