Great service and great food

Pizza Express
Tuesday 5th August 7.00- 8.15 pm
Pizza Express - do yourselves a favour and just put Mario in charge.
We entered the restaurant and it was fair to say that it was not especially welcoming and friendly.
When we got seated, it took sometime to get served. The waitress who was meant to be serving us had disappeared, there was a male colleague (who we later found out to be Mario) was busy dealing with other customers. The manageress was directly behind us and she was berating the cooking staff for some misdemeanour. She completely ignored us, even though we had been there some time.
Eventually our waitress appeared and made a point of telling me that ?yes, I can serve you now.? I hadn?t even complained- although I justifiably could have done. She also proceeded to inform my daughter that she could not order food on the app, it would have to be through her. We gave our order and the food and drinks arrived quite quickly.
What is noticeable is that at a certain point in our meal, both the manageress and female waitress disappeared. At that point the whole atmosphere changed. The remaining staff suddenly became happy and jovial- they continued to work efficiently though. Mario also came over to us and pointed out that we got orders/ pay via the app.
This guy is very good. He is happy, friendly, helpful and very good at his job. His colleagues clearly like him too.
If I was Pizza Express , I would make him the manager. As for the manageress and waitress- both roughly the same age(if you need a description), I would send them on a course to teach them customer service skills? and also one that helps them to know how to speak to colleagues. Or if not, at least advise them to be more positive and smile more.

Busy restaurant, definitely book although they were doing some walk ins, this was on a Monday in August, so imagine it can be busier. Although busy they coped well with service but being seated could have been more prompt. I ordered a soft drink and the pollo ad astra pizza. The pizza was great, perfectly cooked and not overdone. This is by far my favourite pizza from PE. I also ordered the ginger cake with a coffee. The cake was tasty but very small piece considering the coffee and cake was £8. As pizza express goes it was lacking a little personality from staff but I think this may have been due to how busy it was. My waitress was helpful with ordering but did not check to see if my meal was OK. It was, but if not, they wouldn't have known and I would have had to get their attention. Overall a good experience which lacked those finishing touches.

Doughballs were very crisp on outside but still super soft inside which was great. Definitely recommend the raspberry cosmo cocktails doing the 2 for £12 offer currently available. As always used my gold membership rewards to get a great deal. Located around the corner from Liverpool Street station is very convenient.

The pizza was great and service was excellent! Amelia took such great care of us.
Highly recommend this spot for those looking for some tasty pizza and anyone with celiac looking for a delicious and safe pizza spot.

You're going here for convenience and speed and you get both of those plus a decent pizza with lots of options. It's a pretty good trade-off to be honest as long as you're going with the right expectations

The service was great . The atmosphere of the restaurant was super!!!!! Amelia was outstanding. She was so patient with my parents with so many allergy!!! Well done pizza express to have asset like Amelia !??????????????????????????????

Ruined Birthday Celebrations due to overbooking and understaffed!
We had booked a table in advance for a Sunday at 8pm. We arrived before our booking and there were a few people in front waiting to be seated. We could see it was very busy and that they seemed to be short staffed.
We waited 10 minutes in the queue waiting to be seated as the wait staff were so busy with the tables they were ignoring the people waiting to be seated, but we could see a table for 5 people which we booked available but just waiting to be seated.
They finally came to seat the women in front of us, they asked if they had a booking and how many people, they said 5 people and no booking. They took this group to the only table available, this point we were worried this was our table but hopefully they would find us room as we made a booking.
We waited a further 15 minutes being ignored by the staff. We could see the customers at the tables were not happy as they kept trying to get the attention of the staff but being ignored. One of the customers at the table said to us ?I wouldn?t bother if I were you, we have waited 50 minutes just for our starters?
Finally the staff came, I said we had a booking at 8pm for 5 people. She looked on her screen then turned around and said well that group has your table, Then just stared at us, no alternative offered. We said well we booked so why were they allowed the table without you checking, she just went on to say ?I don?t know it was my colleague that sat them not me? and walked off.
We were stunned, they quite obviously couldn?t care as they were too busy they couldn?t handle the customers they had let alone more.
We then had the manager come over to see what the issue was, we explained again what had happened. The manager also did not seem to care, she looked around and said I don?t know, looked around lost trying to find seating. This point we had enough and decided we did not want to waste our money here, especially as this was a birthday meal.
Would definitely avoid visiting again, quite obviously there is issues with staffing.

The worst pizza Express in the UK my mum got shouted at and was abused so we left AND WE DIDN'T GET A CHANCE TO TASTE THE FOOD plus the people who sat on the table next to us left as well AND THE WORKER CHASED US OUT and asulted my mum again and he said the reason why was that his English wasn't good ? if I could give it 0 stars I would he should be fired DON'T COME HERE GO TO THE ONE NEXT DOOR!!!!!

Great gluten free pizza. I had the goats cheese and red onion pizza on a gluten free base and it was very yummy. Smaller than the normal sized pizzas - you have to pay more to 'upgrade' it to a non-gluten free size - but the smaller size was enough for me and I was full at the end of the meal.
They also offer gluten free pasta.
Lots of veggie options on the menu too.
