A real hardware store, like in my childhood, of everything, everywhere :) perfect for troubleshooting. ?

A "really useful" hardware shop amongst the ever increasing number of cafes here and in Belsize Park (which had two hardware shops in England's Lane when I moved here). They had exactly what I needed to replace a leaking flxible water pipe "tail" and I will be making as much use as I can in future and apologise that it has taken me 30 years to cross the threshold!

Excellent service - thank you to the older gentleman that helped me find all my bathroom essentials. I couldn't have asked for a more helpful, kind and efficient person to assist me. With such great service and so much to choose from (very deceiving from the outside, the store has everything you could want) I will certainly be back. Wishing you all the best in your stroke recovery and thank you again for your help.

When my boyfriend broke our bed (...) we had no idea what to do. It was one of those situations where you realise that you have to be an actual adult, because nobody is going to sort this out for you. After assessing the situation, we realised that one of the supports that was screwed in to the side of the bed has fallen off because the screws had bent. We decided to take the support to a nearby hardware store for advice. Mercury Stores was a great bet. I had never been here before - it's actually a little tucked away, on a road that is mainly residential. However, they were very helpful, took the bent screws out for us right there (which we hadn't been able to manage) and then sold us 4 replacement screws for 20p. I guess that's probably a normal price, but when we had a fixed bed, it seemed like we'd really gotten away with something by managing to sort it out so cheaply! Anyway, seemed like a well-equipped store with people willing to help - definitely worth going to for hardware and similar needs.
