I love Leila?s
It is completely idiosyncratic on its own as a beacon of individuality and independence.
Everything about it is perfect.

Unfortunately, my experience here not only fell short of expectations but also reinforced the concerns echoed in many of the negative reviews. I genuinely wanted to support a local business and came with an open mind, but what I encountered, from the service to the overall atmosphere, left me deeply disappointed. Rather than feeling valued or welcome, I left with the clear sense that this is not a place I would ever choose to return to.

Wonderful community shop and kitchen. Sessional delicious nutritious lunch served Wednesday to Saturday. The shop sells pretty much all the produce that goes into the meals served. Ingredients are incredibly well sourced, cheeses sold here are very hard to find elsewhere like with a lot of their products, including tea. Meals served are like they are 'home made' in the best possible way, they are life affirming

Nice proper grocery store - the hot cross buns are particularly delicious

Weirdest shop attendant I?ve ever come across ? feels like she wants you to get the hell out of her shop quicker & never return. I really love little delis and occasionally buy small amounts of organically sourced food within a budget. It proved difficult to figure out what I wanted & what I didn?t here as there were no prices on any of the products, not even price per 100g, so had to interact with the missus for any small thing
Definitely odd experience ? I could have loved it, but needed a bit more encouragement to buy things lol

Like so many others have experienced , it?s so tiresome to have arrogant & rude service, particularly when it?s from the owner of the business. Next time she does a YouTube video and mentions the threats to the business being rent increases, which are clearly valid, perhaps she?d consider a modicum of politeness or welcome - it goes a long way in keeping customers happy. I was told off today for looking at the products on the shelves - breaking the rules?! I was told to stay in the middle of the shop.
I didn?t
I left
I will not come back
There?s a theme here?but Leila knows best!

Quite tasty but comically small portions and the prices don?t reflect this

Very nice place, very nice neighbourhood, very good food, so much taste! We really didn?t expect bigger portions, like some people suggested in the reviews. We did?t experience the staff as impolite at all, they even fixed us a place outside by asking other customers to rearrange because we asked to sit outside. Lovely experience!

Woman who runs the place is so rude and absolutely hates you for being in her presence. £9 for a bowl of soup (bread is £2.50 extra!!) you?d expect some sort of basic service. If you want to be treated like a victorian orphan who?s just wandered off the street looking for gruel, this is the perfect place for you!

Stopped by on Saturday hoping to get some cake and coffee. Waited outside for a while as a small group of diners were being seated, no problem. As this was a group of five they had moved chairs around, this left a table outside with just one seat, perfect as I was solo. The waiter who was seating them then turned to me and abruptly went ?yes?? Like I was some annoyance. I asked if I could take a seat (at the single table) as I was hoping to get something sweet to eat and some coffee. He advised that they ?only served lunch? (they do have a pudding menu) and that my order would be ?against the rules?. Then as I embarrassingly said ?okay?, he turned and said again ?it?s breaking the rules but I suppose you can if you like? while turning away. At which point I just said no thanks. Inside was almost empty, I could possibly understand if I?d been taking up space at busy time. Being honest it wasn?t even the embarrassment of walking away in front of the other group, it was the rude way I was treated. Pity because the cafe has all the makings for a lovely local feel spot, ruined by unnecessary impolitenesses and unpleasant staff. Will not be back.
