We heard that Fortnum & Mason was the de-facto place to do high tea, and we weren't disappointed! Came here with a recommendation and had a wonderful time. Lots of great savory and sweet options, and service was very professional and classy. We had a wonderful time, something that served as a highlight of our trip.

For me this place was like the Disneyland of English tea --four floors of all things to do with tea and more. I even ate dinner at Field on the ground floor and it was delicious. I came back a few days later to buy more tea and goodies because I knew I wouldn't be able to buy any of them locally. My all time favorite is Royal blend. Mmmhmm

Went with friends for tea. Pretty expensive so we expected a premier experience. Overall the selection and desserts were good, but very limited quantity for a hungry but hardly out of sort group. We weren't asking for three portions, just a few more of some items we liked. Have had tea in London, Dublin and the US and never had such an astonishingly rude staff. I assume because we were a younger group when we asked for a few more items and tea refills they essentially didn't respond .. practically churlish and ignoring asks. Obviously just a an example of a poorly run business living off of its old reputation and providing bad service while overcharging because people let them get away with it. And in our case figured ... ah younger tourists let's take advantage of them. Expected better ... rip off. Plenty of good tea services in the city. Guarantee you can do better

While you could spend a day in this complex of FM with 4 floors of shops and things to see/do buy... Unfortunately, we didn't find this to be our FAV of the teas we've done in London. I'm glad we did it once with it's rich history etc. but would not go back to this one (sadly) The main reason because of the actual food itself. The sammies we had were all a bit underwhelming and also? the bread had a bit of a hard ness that usually means they were sitting aside for a spell. The pastries and teas were all very good though. Service impeccable, gracious.

Fortnum & Mason is undoubtedly one of my favorite department stores of all time! Before coming to London, my coworker told me there was a "tea shop" that I had to check out. I was expecting a small tea boutique but was met with something so much more. This department store is filled from top to bottom with incredible teas, coffees, sweets, and holiday/home decor. It was a DREAM. My favorite part of visiting was being able to smell and purchase a wide variety of unique teas like Chamomile & Bee Pollen, Smokey Earl Grey, Lavender Honey, and so many more. These unique flavors have become my favorites teas. I also bought accompanying biscuits to pair with my teas. In the end, I spent a couple hours in the department store and I brought home an extra carryon luggage with the high quality merchandise of this department store. I'd go again in a heartbeat!

This store is undoubtedly one of the most festive and decorated in London. The building itself has lots of history (check out those two figures of the founders on the facade). That said, over Christmas, I would avoid it if I can, especially in the afternoon/evening as it is incredibly busy. And if you end up there by serendipity or dire need for tea/coffee/holiday treats, opt for the -1 or +1 floors, instead of the ground one. There you can at least breathe (somewhat)... Outside, it is very much worth a stop though. Leading up to the holidays, the facade turns into an advent calendar, and the windows designs make you want to buy everything, and then some.

Go! For the history of the place; go because this is where the royals get their morning cuppa (well, the tea from here, anyway); go because it's a British Institution. (Why are you in Britain anyway, if not to get the full experience?) Yes, it's flippin' expensive. If you don't want to pay the prices, just walk around and soak up the atmosphere. Walk up and down the gorgeous stairwells and imagine Lady Grantham having swanned up and down a flight or two (no... you're right she would have taken the attended lift). We go to Fortnums to buy cranberry tea, champagne truffles and to have a glass of bubbly in the wine bar as a nice break to hoofing it around the capital. And, no matter what I've bought, or which counter I'm at, the service is impeccable.
