My wife and I had reduced financial outgoings when we moved from a large country house to a small flat in London. This meant we were able to be more flexible about disposing of income-earning assets in terms of potential inheritance tax. We still have reservations about actively parting with assets because we are uncertain about the national and international financial situation. But we have been more than happy with the advice and expeditious actions taken for us by Buckingham Gate in forming trusts which will protect our younger generations from IHT liabilities. Buckingham Gate have been good at being available for questions and keeping us informed.

Over the past 4 to 5 years i have had dealings with Buckingham Gate and Matthew Smith in particular. Together with his excellent team they helped me set up an Asset Preservation Trust for the benefit of my sons and subsequently advised my wife and I re updating our wills as well as setting up trusts benefitting our children by minimising potential inheritance tax liability. We have had excellent advice from Matthew and team, all progressed in a clear plan on pensions, investments, IHT, etc. Very timely replies to all queries and useful annual reviews taking into account the latest legal and financial requirements. Over the years we've worked with many advisors, but Buckingham Gate has been the best for us, by far.

I first met Matthew a few years ago at one of the retirement seminars in London. It is so easy to procrastinate about writing a will, estate planning, power of attorney let alone finding a team you can trust with the sensible investment of your funds. There was nothing like a malignant melanoma to focus the mind and Matthew and the team have been superb.
