Such a shame but this restaurant just doesnt do it's location justice and I cannot justify the bill again for a return visit.

We paid 300 pound for two ? starters were ok .. but main dish cod was flavourless ? and the sauce contained bacon and white beans ???? With fish?
Cheese plate was pre cut and melting on the plate when they brought it ? they should change the chef and menu ?

Quite disappointing for the price. The starters were lovely, but the mains were seriously disappointing. The stuffed tomato had maybe two bits of 1cm-sized halloumi cubes in it, while the duck dish was a puff pastry ball filled with shredded duck (i imagine this was a cost cutting exercise). The pecan dacquoise was mostly a chocolate dessert, which is fine (and delicious!) but the pecan wasn?t the star of the show. We didn?t leave hungry, but not good enough for the price. As others say, you pay for the convenience. Would not recommend!

At the beginning of October we had dinner in the outdoor area of ??the Balcony restaurant overlooking Covent Garden. We had Seared halibut, Honey roast carrots and Chargrilled vegetables with cheese tard. Everything was wonderful, and I would particularly like to highlight the service, friendly, attentive, professional.

I?ve always been captivated by the grandeur and buzz of the Paul Hamlyn Bar and had always wanted to dining in the Balconies, soaking in the atmosphere while watching the ballet. It definitely comes at a premium, but now that I?ve done it, I can confidently say it?s well worth it.
When booking, you?ll be asked to select your show and pre-order your meal. The great thing is that your table is reserved for the entire evening. We attended the ballet Alice in Wonderland, which had two intervals, and it was a pleasure to return to our table each time, greeted by a glass of wine or coffee.
Yes, the food is priced at a premium, but when you consider the overall experience, it?s absolutely worth it. The food was exceptional, and the service was impeccable. Our server was well aware of the show timings, offering timely updates on when we needed to head back to our seats and what to order for the interval. We even had a glass of wine we didn?t finish, and it was waiting for us during the next break.
Overall, dining at the Balconies added an extra layer of magic to our evening at the Royal Opera House. It truly makes the experience more memorable.

We visited the restaurant area on a spontaneous evening and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food! Well plated and flavoured! Not to mention the beautiful view you get. Definitely recommended!

Gorgeous venue. Convenient for the show but food is ok. Would recommend going early for a drink in the cafe vs a full meal. But nice to do once with a show for a special occasion. But paying most for the convenience.
The Cornish hen was dry and could have been delicious with a bunch more gravy. Beef was nice and succulent but also would have been nice with more sauce.
Most enjoyable was the lovely ceiling and view of the Royal.

You have to pre-order, we were told because one of us had intolerances (wheat and dairy) it would apply across both orders which wasn?t asked for. However when we arrived at the table butter was already there and they brought bread out too but not gf bread which had to be asked for. The starter also had Parmesan?! Thankfully the waiting staff were very helpful in sorting it out in the end, Saddin in particular was amazing. The food when it was sorted out was good especially the cured salmon which melted in the mouth, but the hassle meant i scored it down.
