Worst gym, should be called ?no time for fitness?
Broken showers and hairdryers not working. This gym is still stuck in 2012.
Would of given half a star if I could

Worst punchbag in London.

Joined 4.5 years ago but this gym is depressing me now. Broken rowing machine, broken cable on the dual cable pull (meaning its useless) for 3-4 months, boxing bag has been taped up for over 9 months. One treadmill keeps randomly stopping. I've flagged these issues for months with no reply. There's only ever 1 bottle of spray and filthy marks and paint chips on the wall. WiFi has never worked and now seems to be little air con. I'm going to quit as find a better maintained option.

The small workout area where the aerobic steps are kept is a little shabby, but clean. The rest of the gym is OK, with modern equipment. Overall, its a nice place to workout.

This place has gone downhill. Unsafe things such as an uneven weights floor have gone unrepaired for years, despite being reported over and over. Items that are damaged or worn out are not replaced or repaired. The gym itself is seemingly never cleaned, items such as paper towels and toilet paper often run out, and walls have literal holes in them.
The owner seems happy to take members? money, but zero interest in investing in upkeep.
Other reviews have mentioned investigating issues, but this is false. Nothing is done, issues just punted hoping people stop asking.
Have reported issues to Anytime Fitness HQ and even they can?t even bothered to respond.
You can tell from the cut and paste responses to reviews for the past year+ raising the same issues that no real care is taken.
Added: the response to this and every other review says they take these concerns seriously and will address them promptly - not even the issue of cleanliness which doesn?t take budget?

Needs a major overhaul.
I?d echo recent reviewers who have highlighted serious issues with cleanliness, maintenance and general wear?n?tear at this gym. The gym really needs a good bit of TLC. If another gym opening nearby, members like me would be gone in a flash!
Anytime really need to up their game at this location.

Really sad to report this wasn't a safe or comfortable place to work out as a woman. Lots of staring men and harassing behaviour. When I reported to staff, I was told that since the men who I said behaved this way weren't from cities, they did not understand they shouldn't act this way. Staff also remarked they had had many similar complaints, though clearly this hasn't led to changes being instituted. The front desk staff member asked "what do you want me to do about it?" when I reported by experience and when queried on whether that was an appropriate response, the manager stated that I had misinterpreted his meaning and were defensive. Really disappointing to have such a poor response and culture around sexual harassment in 2024. I was sent a generic email requesting feedback to which I provided suggestions of a sexual harassment policy, reminders of etiquette around the gym (don't stare or leer at women who are working out) and staff training on how to handle complaints of sexual harassment but received no response. I felt completely unsupported and am unsurprised they continue to receive complaints about sexual harassment since their response is so inadequate.

WORST GYM EVER - AVOID AT ALL COSTS(If I could give ZERO STARS, I would)The customer service at this gym is utterly atrocious, and the gym itself is a mess ? it should be SHUT DOWN!I joined Anytime Fitness as part of a 6-week ?free? challenge as advertised on Facebook. When I arrived for the consultation, it was made apparent that there was nothing ?free? about it. In fact, it cost me £399 + £35 for a fob deposit. If I successfully lost 25lbs (1 stone, 11 pounds/ 11kg) or 6% bodyfat by the end of the 6-week challenge, I would receive a refund of £399. If not, I would get 1 year free gym membership.Having started my weight loss journey already and my friend dragging me onto this challenge, I decided that 6% bodyfat was do-able.WORST four hundred quid I?ve EVER spent!-Gym floor is a mess with equipment strewn all over the place. Trip hazard galore.-Dirty around the edges of the gym (hairballs and dust collecting in the corners)-The flooring is spongey, dented, uneven and dangerous.-Poor repair attempts with shoddy workmanship resulting in dangerous platforms and surfaces.-Machines in need of urgent repair and upgrade, break down regularly and take ages to get repaired.-Classes never start on time (most classes were at least 10 minutes late, with some as late as 25 minutes)-Staff are unhelpful and ignore emails (unfortunately, each Anytime Fitness is owned independently so you can?t approach a ?higher rank? to get your complaint or query answered).-Lack of cleaning products to wipe down equipment after use (apparently COVID cleaning procedures taught them nothing)-Hugely overpriced at £52.95 per month. There are several gyms within the local area that are cheaper, 1000 times better quality and much better value for money.-Air conditioning is rubbish so it?s too hot to do any cardio.-Small variety of equipment.I could go on, but you get the gist.Regarding the 6-week ?free? challenge?I lost 21lbs and 9.8% body fat.I was slightly heavier on my ?weigh-in? day (you know, the usual water retention/ time of the month/ day-to-day weight fluctuation). This didn?t matter to me because I?d hit the body fat target.EXCEPT, I was told that MY target was 25lbs and that the body percentage target was for people who started with a BMI of 28 or less.I was furious that they hadn?t made this clear from the being ? the goalposts had changed. The challenge encouraged a terrible relationship with food and was, essentially, a 6-week programme of starving yourself with little help or guidance.(I mean, it?s obvious now I think about it?being asked to lose 25lbs in 6 weeks is utterly outrageous).I never received my £35 fob refund.I never received my 1-year membership following the challenge. (Though, to be fair, I wouldn?t touch that place with a barge pole following the abysmal experience I had there).

Few steroids freaks, who are too small for a proper gym and too big for fitness club...Air conditioning could work better. Quite small ,no kids allowed, which is good.

The gym floor needs replacing. The floor is like walking on a mattress, especially near the squat racks as the floor is dented from all the weights dropping. There are only 2 squat racks, one of them has a wooden plank which was used to cover up a hole in the floor so its completely unsafe to exercise on as it compresses when doing anything - it is not a lifting platform! Both squat racks are used for benching, so queue form, there is only one flat bench.Lat pull-down machine and glute leg curl constantly break down and take ages to get repaired. They should invest in plate loaded machines instead.Unnecessary space is taken by spin cycles that are rarely ever used for a class.Considering that anytime fitness startford east village is only a short distance away and has much better equipment, this gym pales in comparison.Go for a day pass to see it for yourself. Don't take my word for it.

This gym costs £52 a month. I think that's very, very overpriced considering the state of this place. It's literally decaying; most of the equipment is in a truly sorry state and is falling apart. There's always litter strewn everywhere, weights lying all over the floor and a lack of cleaning products to wipe down equipment with. I find it galling that just down the road, in East Village, you can go to an Anytime Fitness gym that looks drastically different!

Although I have not visited the gym for over a long period of time, this place always drags me back in one way or another an automated text or email reminding me to stay healthy and attend, it's small but stocked up, polite etiquette from patrons is a bonus, it has showers and touch up facilities so can always look as good leaving as you went in!Very friendly staff, nice atmosphere, clean and well kept and there is an added bonus that it is 24/7 accessible so if you don't want to interact with too many people which sometimes is understandable, then going from 23:00-05:30 would be advantageous.
