I had an extremely upsetting experience at Costa in Ilford today. I came in with my newborn in a pram, urgently needing to change him as he was completely wet. When I asked to use the toilet/baby changing room, the gentleman behind the counter initially lied and told me the toilets were out of order.
When I then said I was happy to buy a coffee just to be able to use the facilities, he suddenly smiled and looked like he would now allow access ? which made it clear the toilets were working all along. That kind of behavior is not only dishonest, but deeply insensitive, especially to a mother in distress with a newborn.
I understand store policies may require purchases to use the facilities, but where is the human empathy?
Businesses like Costa should be more than just profit-driven. They are part of our communities, and should act with compassion and common sense. I hope management reflects seriously on how situations like this are handled. No parent should be left struggling like that in a public space.

Varsha was a kind and helpful girl. We enjoyed a delightful morning discussing whether a cinnamon roll contained alcohol. She eagerly checked the manual book listing all the ingredients and was thrilled to help. I truly appreciated her warmth and cheerful smile.

I visited the store today, just went after getting down from the train was served an amazing coffee by Nitul. The guy was amazing including his colleagues. I highly recommend everyone to visit the place

As soon as I entered with my wife and kids, we were warmly welcomed by the girl at the counter and the guy near the coffee area. My mocha tasted amazing, and my kids really enjoyed their berry slush. Thank you, Rakhshan! The place was clean, and the aroma of fresh coffee was just incredible.
Visited on Sunday, 1st June 2025 at 5:30 PM.
I even bought some chocolate as a small gesture to appreciate the excellent service.

Pleasant staff but no sense of urgency. Long waits. Outside seating often occupied by non customers. Staff don't police this as it seems not to concern them. Increasingly being used as a hangout place for groups of teenagers.
