I went in for a routine eye test, which usually costs me around £30. To my shock, they tried to charge me an outrageous £170! I know prices have gone up, but that kind of jump is ridiculous.
When I challenged it, the man didn?t even say the figure out loud ? he just turned the screen to show me. Then he ?reduced? it to £140, again without saying the number, just flashing the screen. That is extremely unsettling. Why hide the cost unless you know it?s unreasonable? It feels like a scam, and at a place like Specsavers, that?s the last thing you expect.
Why would anyone pay over four times the average price of an eye test? I certainly won?t. I told them no thanks, and I?ll be sticking to a proper opticians going forward.
Never again!

I took my elderly mother, who is 78 years old to this specsavers for a check up. She doesn't speak English that well so I came as an interpreter. She was seen by the manager, and it was a horrible experience.
She showed us attitude, had no patience and persistently expressed her annoyance at my mother through body language and rolling her eyes at us because she took a bit longer to understand. Whilst she was checking, I called her out, asking why she was shrugging at us, and she replied saying that her ?neck hurts? with a rude expression on her face. We left feeling upset, hurt and angry. We will not be coming back here again. I cannot believe the one supposed to be in charge has such nasty manners.

Dear [Store Manager/Practice Manager],
I am writing to express my deep disappointment following my recent appointment with your practice.
My appointment was scheduled for 9:05 AM, and I was advised to arrive 10 minutes early. However, when I arrived, the store was still closed. The staff did not open the store until 9:05 AM or shortly after, which is both unprofessional and inconvenient.
Furthermore, the appointment itself was highly unsatisfactory. Typically, my contact lens appointments take around 20 minutes. This one lasted only five. The optometrist, Sadiya Mirzan, did not appear to know what she was doing. Upon arrival, she began speaking about the oxygen permeability of my contact lenses before I even sat down, pressuring me to change my contacts without conducting any preliminary tests.
The assessment was rushed. She conducted only a single stand test and then asked me to remove my contact lenses. At no point did she inform me that she was going to apply dye to my eyes ? there was no explanation or warning. Additionally, she failed to perform a proper health check of my eyes or assess whether my lenses fit correctly.
Oddly, the questions that are usually asked at the beginning of an appointment ? and that I had already answered in the pre-appointment form ? were only asked at the end. The entire appointment felt unprofessional, careless, and poorly handled.
As a long-time patient who has been coming to your practice since childhood, I?ve always trusted the quality of your care. Unfortunately, this experience has severely undermined that trust. This is the first time I?ve ever left feeling that my eyes were not properly examined ? and worse, that my vision may have been put at risk.
I strongly believe that Sadiya Mirzan is not adequately trained to carry out eye tests and may pose a risk to other patients. I do not ever wish to be seen by her again. If any issues arise with my eyes as a result of this rushed and negligent appointment, I will hold her responsible.
To make matters worse, throughout the appointment, she barely made any eye contact, speaking to me while constantly looking at the computer ? which made the interaction feel cold and impersonal.
I request that you take this matter seriously and ensure proper steps are taken to address my concerns.

Had repeated appointments where I felt disappointed in the service provided. My contact lens and glasses requirements are quite particular due to a high prescription and preexisting retinal issue. Don't think I was very well looked after as the glasses and contacts made my vision worse at times like they weren't the correct prescription. Felt like they were just trying to palm me off rather than listen to my needs. A staff member came across like a car sales rep and felt dismissive when I raised concerns. When I received contacts for the first time and was about to be sent to reception, I had to stop and explain that I wasn't told how to put them in or clean them or the risks associated. Overall would not recommend

Other than one staff memeber who was professional, the rest were unprofessional and insensitive. The optomertrist casually dropped into the conversation that I required glasses, so I had to circle back round to it and ask questions, and I was told by one of the staff memebers that I was in the denial stage of needing glasses (I had just found this out). I will not be attending this store again.

The best service ever, they did my eye test amazingly and they continued to reassure me throughout the procedure, my glasses were ready for collection within 3 days and they are great.
