“If it wasn't for this shop I would be semi naked today. Quite a few of my favourite clothes are from here and when I lived on Highgate High Street I would find something awesome most weekends. They do know their labels and mark things up accordingly but as it's all for charity that's not really a bad thing. As with any charity shop you have to trawl through the tacky weirdness but that's all part of the fun...”
“This branch of Oxfam specialises in secondhand books and it has a fantastic range. Expect to find everything from children's picture books to best-selling novels and huge non-fiction tomes on ancient history. The books are usually in near-perfect condition too, which is always a bonus. I don't know if it's because of the Highgate location, but I've found that the books are pretty expensive considering they're secondhand. I paid around £3.50 for a paperback novel - obviously less expensive than Waterstones or WHSmith - but when I'm in a charity shop I kinda expect to walk out with several books and still have change left from a fiver. As it is, secondhand books from Amazon are cheaper than this place. But if you're in the area and it's a nice day, drop in for a novel and read it in the neighbouring Waterlow Park.”
