WHSmith is not quite the same as it used to be. I remember buying all of my school and college stationery from their stores many years ago.
Today it's not just selling reduced price annual diaries. But it has already sold a lot of stationery equipment for writing with. Which is nowadays all done on the computer, smart phone or tablet.
My visit into the shop was to see if I could find a fountain ?? pen. Unfortunately fountain pens ?? seem to be going out of fashion ( Or they have all been sold off cheaply).
What is left of WHSmith still packs a punch though. You can still be well catered for if you are still in the market for the old fashioned types of stationery equipment.
The staff were very helpful and friendly.

Walked in Hayes WHsmith branch this afternoon to purchase a small book...I felt I disturbed the staff behind the counter.. she was busy on her phone no acknowledgement from her when I said "could I pay for this" she took the little book to scan while still looking at her phone gave her the money while giving me the change again she was looking into her phone.. no thankyou not a word... customer service is just not for her..

Very bad experience. Please don't be fooled. False opening time, bad staffs' attitude. The Google map said the closing time of this WHSmith is 17:30, but it was closed when I got there at 17:00.Many people waited outside for a long time. We try to talk to the staffs inside many times but the staffs were so impatient and didn't let us in without any explanation! Then more and more people came and the staffs just watched us waiting at the door and totally ignored us.Because the post office is inside, I took very heavy parcels and walked a long time there. Finally, l had to bring them back home. Many people are in the same situation and the staffs are very indifferent and impatient. That's why we got angry.If you want to close early, please updates in time on Google map instead of being so rudekeeping a lot of people coming there and waiting a long time without no explanation only disrespectful neglect. It is just a waste of people's trust and time and totally unreasonable and dishonest.

Great staff and good service. There was a queue, but it was quick moving. I used the post office at the back. Now they have an automated self service and a lady there to assist in getting people to use it.

Bad staff i visit yesterday to buy books for my kids.I was at shop at sharp 17:00 but the staff did not let me in and said no more customers it was very rude of staff as shop closing time is 17:30.

APPALLING SERVICE!! 2 people only to serve a queue of over 20 people when I arrived and more adding. Then there was 1 as the other girl needed to come out and help people to work the machines available for postage which shortened the queue. It's not these 2 girls that are at fault it's the management who are at fault and these managers should be sacked!. They are not fit for purpose! I would not give any star rating if I didn't have to.
