We stopped here on our way back from the Fuller's brewery, a nice place next to the river with a huge terrace and lots of outdoor tables. We enjoyed our pints here, nice atmosphere, calm and relaxing.

I can highly recommend visiting The Black Lion. Service was really great and you can see that managers of this place try to create a unique atmosphere where everybody can feel good. The food was really tasty and fresh, perfect place for beer with friends and Sunday Roast as well.

Fantastic Sunday!! And the beer garden was massive.Ordered Wellington and Chicken from Sunday Menu both absolutely delicious! All cooked to perfection ,homemade gravy, and giant Yorkshire pudding! Very busy. However, the service was prompt, and with a smile,nothing was a problem, dog friendly.Will definitely be back and recommend! OMG, and not to mention, they will have curling from next week...fun fun fun ?

Only ever been here for drinks but the staff behind the bar have always been friendly. The bar can get busy like most places. The beer garden is huge! So much outdoor seating and the menu looks good too. Nice staff and good vibes. I would reccommend it for large gatherings too as there is so much space. A nice variety of beers on draft and a decent food menu with veggie options. I'll definitely visit again to try the food.

First real English meal and what an impressive beginning to the trip! Service was so friendly and efficient in a relaxing and casual ambiance. The dishes we got were sooo hearty and reminded us of comfort food. REBELLION BEER BATTERED FISH AND CHUNKY CHIPS Crispy layer of beer batter with just enough salt and pepper to go with the tender bite of fish. The chunky chips were crispy on the outside and had a bite similar to mashed potatoes, so delicious. The lemon tartar sauce went very nicely with it. That fresh squeeze of lemon juice over everything was just Chef's Kiss. SLOW ROASTED LAMB RUMPThe lamb was roasted for six hours in red wine and shallots for a delicately, earthy flavor. The meat just melted in your mouth with every forkful. The lamb was served on a tasty bed of fluffy, garlic mashed potatoes. The red wine sauce drizzled on complimented everything perfectly. RIBEYE STEAK Classic steak done right with all the right searing and flavoring. Every bite was juicy and delicious. The roasted vine tomatoes were a great touch. The fries were done English style, so tasty.All I can say is: so English and so damn good.

I was at the Black Lion to celebrate my birthday with a party of about 20 people and it was absolutely amazing. The food is great and the staff is super helpful. Definitely recommend! Lovely space outside, very big, with a tent to protect in case of bad weather and just general great vibes.

Really great. We were there to chat so got abit loud but we moved outside once the band started. Will certainly come again.
