I got mugged today when I walked into Jewsons Hammersmith.
Not by a criminal, but by the very polite talking people behind the counter.
I took my ticket to the counter. It was for a single item. The man tippy-tappy-typed into his terminal for quite some time, presumably asking ChatGPT ?this guy has a greying beard, flat cap, and workman?s trousers, probably a carpenter, what?s the absolute maximum amount I can charge him for this extremely basic bag of sand without him walking out without completing the purchase??
Pricing seems just so painfully opportunistic, it?s not how any other retail or trade does business, it?s just wrong.
I understand how Builders merchants work but this is extreme. Complete joke.
What?s the use having a trade account if they don?t even bother giving you an even SLIGHTLY reasonable price?
They could argue I am not a high volume customer. There?s a very good reason for that?

Almost £6 for 25kg bag of sharp sand. Builder depot £4.74 for 40kg, or let?s be generous and choose a more pricey competitor e.g. Wickes or B&Q for £3.70 for 25kg. Jewson Hammersmith - don?t take your customers for mugs. Ridiculous.

As a tradesperson, generally tries to avoid this shop because of the prices example, today paid nearly £30 for a bag of fast set cement. apparently that was discounted. You could buy cocaine for less in London. ?
