Pophams on Richmond Road is such a great spot by London Fields.
There?s loads of seating both inside and out, which makes it really relaxed compared to other busy bakeries, super kid and dog friendly.
We went for the pastries and tried the marmite & cheese as well as the bacon & maple ? both were delicious, but the marmite one was the winner for us.
Even though we went around 10:30am and there was a bit of a queue for food, it was still really easy to find a seat.
Definitely worth a visit if you?re in East London and fancy a treat!

Both my friend and I visited Pophams for the first time today.
First of all, a thank you to the employees. All were polite and helpful. Serving with a smile & interacted well.
We had a pick several pastries. My friend thoroughly enjoyed the honey and sea salt pastry. Whilst I enjoyed the cardamom bun. And what a mighty croissant.
I wasn't too fond of my tea. But I like the style the tea was served in.
Thanks

By day, Pophams London Fields is a temple to laminated dough. By night, it transforms into something quieter, deeper?a pasta-led dining experience that feels both intimate and quietly ambitious. It?s the kind of place where bread is revered, pasta is poetic, and the lighting makes everything look like a still from a Scandinavian drama.
Atmosphere The space is minimalist but warm: smooth concrete surfaces, mid-century benches, and soft golden light that flatters both food and faces. It?s stylish without being sterile, with just enough East London edge to feel current. The crowd is a mix of creatives, couples, and quietly well-dressed groups who speak in low tones and sip wine like it?s part of a ritual.
Food & Drink The menu is seasonal, inventive, and beautifully restrained. Highlights include:
Lamb cannelloni lounging in bagna cauda, draped with slow-cooked friggitelli peppers
Taleggio cappelletti with macerated grapes and hazelnuts?comforting, zingy, and quietly indulgent
Oxtail ravioli with beetroot and bone marrow?rich, earthy, and devastatingly good
Celeriac carpaccio with pear, walnut, and cheese?a starter that feels like autumn on a plate

This happened with both of our visits. The staff at the till was unwilling to serve us, she was kindly introducing all the pastries to other customers and when it was our turn she didn?t even bother to interact with us. We were still trying to ask about the pastries at the till and she just jumped to payment screen kept pushing us to pay. It feels terrible to be treated differently and if this happened twice on us you always think if it is because we are not the same race.

Had the bhaji toastie, which was lovely and not too expensive. They allow laptops on some tables which is great. I would love if they did vegan pastries - there wouldn?t be loads to pull me back here to be honest, as although it was nice I like to be able to try new things! Atmosphere is cool, I like the open kitchen

I was already a fan of the bakery (there is one nearby Angel too) but discovering the dinner menu was a really unexpected surprise! The combination of flavours is very refined and works like magic, for example the basil sauce is in the Eton mess... so yummy! Also all ingredients (I assume the pasta is made by them too) were fresh and enjoyable. Service was very polite and friendly and the atmosphere was also nice. Definitely worth a visit!

After dozens of visits and pastries, tried dinner for the first time as a walk-in. Amazing pastas, excellent service, and the best sourdough I?ve had in London.

Tired of my own cooking I decided to take myself out for a low key ?posh? dinner and this place was perfect. I would never have guessed it operates as bakery by day as it is a slick, chic contemporary restaurant with highly informative (and informed) wait staff, exceptional food and a cool, subdued modern ambience.
Traci served me and she is one of the most wonderful human beings. I dined alone but without seeming obtrusive, she became my unofficial companion; super helpful suggestions around the menu, pushed me to try (and enjoy) a new wine, and made me feel so at ease and uplifted.
You MUST have the bread, the slices of which are measured with the heart, and I also think the cuttlefish risotto is a new menu star not to be overlooked.

I visited the cafe around 1 PM?busy, but not overly crowded. You order inside, where the staff ask for your name and seating location. They then warm up your pastries and bring them to your table shortly after. I had the cardamom bun, and my partner chose the ham and cheese?both were seriously delicious. It was my first time trying a cardamom bun, and I?m officially a fan. I also picked up something from their home shop and received a voucher for a free drink, so I ordered a matcha with oat milk. I?d definitely love to come back and try their coffee next time.

I absolutely adore Pophams and this visit to the London Fields location did not disappoint! The vibe was SPOT ON ?? both outdoor and indoor seating were lovely - I especially loved small details like the tiles on the sink where you can wash your hands without going to the bathroom.
As always, the food and coffee were superb. We had a Soup of the Day which was Sweetcorn and Corgette - SO good ? we asked if we could have some butter for the bread and we got this AMAZING soft butter with coarse sea salt sprinkled on top - I love that extra effort. We also had a seasonal pastry with sesame, miso, and chocolate that was amazing - so complex with the chocolate hitting first and then the miso and sesame flavors blooming afterwards.
Finally, the staff were very nice as well and really helped round out another wonderful Pophams experience. We can?t wait to come back and finally try dinner at this location - the menu looks incredible! ??
