The facilities at this club are decent. Above average when compared to other Virgin locations. The overall feeling of the place is good but let down by the staff.
The staff are for the most part incredibly unhelpful; often making up excuses to avoid doing their job - the level of complacency is high. Surprised management has let this be the norm. Expect bare minimum if you have an issue, often better calling head office but again the complacency is rife on that end too!
One towel policy is also totally absurd given the cost of membership and frustrating when swimming and showering, also no smaller towels provided for the gym as in other locations.

Terrible customer service. I called to i quire about membership and the rude person simply said it was on their website. When I asked her name she disconnected the call. Thanks, now I know which gym not to join.

Overall pleased with this gym
Pool is great and the sauna is next to it so you can pop in straight after a swim
Gym area is well equipped though it can be hard to find a spot in busier times
My only complaint is that the bikes and running machine have no fans so you get horrendously sweaty which isn?t great
Virgin please put some fans in

I have been looking into enrolling my children in swim lessons. The instructors have been recommended by friends. However, the experience to enroll the children has been unbelievably difficult. This is primarily due to the fact that you cannot place a phone call to any Virgin gym locations. Virgin Corporate has consolidated all phone lines/calls into a single corporate office that has had predictably frustrating consequences for customers (and I imagine the local gym staff as well). It?s not possible to reach a human at the local gym, except potentially by email. Trying to book my kids for swimming has resulting in nearly 40 (!?!) emails back and forth trying to get various pieces of information and regularly repeating myself about information already provided. Signing the kids up also required physically driving to the gym more than once and paying for parking to try to resolve issues. This was a massive amount of headache for something that could have been solved in a 5 minute phone call with the right person.

The quality of this place has gone down immeasurably. I joined 3 years ago and since, my membership has almost doubled yet the services haven't changed at all and have in fact degraded. The provided shampoo and conditioner barely comes out of the damp, dirty dispensers, the showers and locker rooms are sub par to others in the same category, and they now have a 1 towel rule which is not helpful if you are swimming and want to also wash your hair. When paying so much you don't expect to be met by such measly measures. Classes have also become less wide ranging which is a great shame. Parking is limited and staff could be a lot friendlier, not even a goodbye on the phone. Will be cancelling at the end of my contract.

Not one to review but know the struggles of finding a proper gym now. Impossible to workout due to number of people. Queuing from open until 9:30am and after 5pm. This is for weights, don't even try to book courts.
NB the equipment is OK meaning if you are able to go at during the day it is not terrible.

Usually great. Really good facilities. Let down by bad communication with members on occasions when things are broken or they have no towels.
So (like me today) you could commute there, be looking forward to the gym/ swimming & only when you get to the front desk do you find out that they have no towels and you can?t swim or shower. With staff cringing at how awkward it is.
For a company with quite a sophisticated app that always asks for feedback and notifies you about rewards, it?s a shame that they can?t communicate disruption to members at their home club.
It?s disappointing because I?d say 5 stars if it wasn?t for this type of thing & this aside I?ve recommended it to lots of people.

I really hate this place, I genuinely can not wait for my membership to end. They have absolutely no standard with their classes ,I rush the other day to attend a class a week before they were checking names to confirm attendance and you get penalties for not showing up this week waitlist people can get in no names needs to be checked. Since i have joined I have been struggling to keep up with their change of process, what ever the instructor wishes that week! I donot understand I really can not wait this membership to end. Please don't register here, if you are after some decent classes. Do not get me wrong the staff is amazing , they are very polite and helpful but class policy is awful not worth of 189 pounds per month, seriously not worth at all! I donot mind to pay more but at least i know i will get the high standards. I am counting the days when my contract will end.

I love my Virgin Active gym! It?s clean, well staffed, And all the equipment is kept in great condition. The staff is so friendly there?s a lot of smiling and the good vibes are contagious!

Well managed club with inspiring and helpful trainers and lots of great classes to enjoy. Very sociable environment: I have made many friends over the last two years. Lovely pool which is rarely crowded when I visit (mornings) plus spa and steam room. Very clean changing rooms. Loads of machines which seem to have good availability when I visit. Cute little cafe. Aircon struggles in parts of the gym but all on all I would recommend it very highly

I've been a Virgin member for a while now (15+ years), and I can honestly say this gym has become my second home. The atmosphere is always welcoming, and the energy is just contagious. The classes are top-notch?not only are they well-structured and challenging in all the right ways, but they also bring people together. There's a real sense of community here that goes far beyond just working out.

Impossible to book a court or a tennis class - fully booked all the time, even waitlists are fully booked, so no chance. Once or twice, however, I got lucky to book a tennis group class and was shocked to see that the class was half full and remaining tennis courts were empty despite the app showing full booking. The coach said people cancel last minute ... Do something about it - like introduce a 24 hrs cancellation policy for courts and tennis classes, so that the people who really want to play can book a court or a class.
