I work within the trade so have some knowledge of customer service/experience and workshop procedures. These people are not to be trusted as they will try to lie to you if they think you are naive. Avoid.

Having had an excellent service the previous year at Newton Honda South Croydon, this year the visit was disappointing. No-one discussed with me the technical outcomes of the service. Only once I was paying and was given the paperwork, I looked through this myself and saw a couple of issues highlighted red. I asked one of them to be fixed there and then (why wasn't this offered straightaway?). Subsequently I discussed the other issue with another garage (not Honda), where the technician discussed in detail the implications, options and costs, and I am now having the issue fixed there. Furthermore, I was waiting at the garage while the service was done; it took significantly longer than originally indicated. I suspect that the car wasn't prioritised even though I was a waiting customer. I had also asked to use the spare desk in the waiting room but was told that the staff member will be back soon and will need the desk. The staff member never turned up and it was clear they weren't in that day. I would understand if I had been told that I cannot use it e.g. for Covid reasons, but that's not the reason I was given. Overall, I didn't get the impression the staff cared hugely about customer satisfaction. Each customer gets a bar of chocolate, but that's not what I came there for...

We bought a used 2012 Honda Jazz from Newton back in 2018 and had it serviced there through to 2022.On the positive side, booking services with Newton was always easy, they were generally very helpful and flexible. Office staff are courteous and professional. They have shown willing in trying to resolve ongoing issues with the car, however more on that below. The pricing including service plans seems competitive. The negatives all relate to the actual servicing. We bought a Jazz noting their market-leading reliability. The reality has been far from that and, I suspect, exacerbated by poor servicing - including identifying issues and appropriately replacing parts as necessary. My confidence was particularly undermined during one farcical episode where staff had to consult garage CCTV in order to keep track of which wheels had been rotated to which positions on the car in pursuit of a solution to long-standing slow deflation issues, the result of which was new tyres being placed on the wrong wheels, rotated to the wrong position, to try and resolve the issue which, unsurprisingly was not resolved (subsequently Newton replaced the two remaining used tyres free of charge, but the deflation issue was not resolved until we took it to an independent local garage).Another example. At our last service the rear break discs and pads were replaced. One year later the rear discs have worn razor thin. We've moved house so moved garage. This garage have informed us that there is an issue with sticking rear brake calipers (and low brake fluid levels) which is likely causing the excessive wear. This could cost us approaching £1000 to fix, including new discs, pads, calipers and labour. This is just one example of unexpected costs occurring throughout our car's service history which, as previous, is supposedly the most reliable car around. These costs amount to several thousand pounds in the past 4 years, on an initial purchase price of £6.5k.Based on this, if you feel inclined to have your approved used car serviced at an approved centre for the perceived benefits (as we did) I would think twice, shop around and get some trusted feedback on alternative garages.

Took my 2009 Honda Jazz for a MOT test today, at there new address (232 Selsdon Rd, South Croydon, CR2 6PL), I must say my experience was a pleasant one, not only did my car pass with flying colours, Kayleigh my service advisor gave me a big complimentary bar of dairy milk, my favourite yummy ?, I used to go to Honda in Wimbledon for MOT'S, but felt they kept making things up to get more money out if me, for instance last year Honda in Wimbledon did a MOT on my car, before going i look on the Honda (MOT Check List) on the Honda website, which has a helpful list of what to check, and sort out before going to a MOT, one of the things on the list is (Ensure the windscreen wiper blades are in working order.) which i checked, but when i went to collect my car, they told on of my front wipers had failed, so i told them about the checks i did above and asked to see the problem, and was shocked to see that one of them had had purposely torn one of the front wiper rubbers away from the blade, it was torn 2 inches long running from the tip towards the middle, and trailing behind when the wipers were in motion, i was not happy and told him straight it wasn't like that when i handed over my car, and that must have done it, in the end i had to pay £14 for a new pair as they come in a box of two, plus around £50 for them to fit them, then the man told me my back break pads were 60% worn and gave an a (Advisory), and told me my front break pads were 70% worn a (Fail) and told me if i pay for a new pair of pads, and pay for them to fit it which costs £160 to buy and fit, and pay it within a time limit, they will not charge me the £54.85 MOT cost a second time, my instincts told me he was pulling a fast one, as i am one of those people that can see when some is lying in an instant, but i said to myself i need my car back to take my kids to school and say if my instincts are wrong for the 1st time, i need my breaks working for my kids myself and other road users, so i reluctantly paid the £160, and was told that i would have to have new back break pads fitted within 6 months, so i have had that in the back of my mind since and been driving my car alot less, as money has been low past year, so been trying to make my breaks last, but hear this after asking Kayleigh at Honda South Croydon today how much percent are my back break pads worn, and when do you advise i should get them replaced, she told me they are only 40% worn (Not 60%), and as i only drive 3000 miles a year i dont have to worry about them for at lest the next 2 years, wow those Wimbledon Scammers. Thanks Kayleigh for restoring my faith in Honda Services, i was actively looking at Halfords and other Garages about to break my keep it Honda rule, thanks again will be recommending South Croydon Honda, and will most definitely be back happy days lol. time to eat some more chocolate. ???
