4* all round, not as good as I remember beef eaters being, however, wasn't disappointed! Nice historical venue, worth popping in if passing by for a drink and a bite to eat, especially in the summer, decent size garden to enjoy food in!

When we arrived we waited 45 minutes before being served. The waiters and waitresses didn?t even seem like they tried with our table, one of the waitresses dunked her hair in a drink (obviously accidentally but regardless hair should be tied back when working a long hair braid should not be an exception.) We came for food on a Sunday so we understand the Sunday service. The problems are the way it?s booked up, still accepting walk ins and clearly extremely understaffed. Not sure if it was a poorly planned rota or if staff had called in sick but would have thought it would have been planned better. I?ve been here before and liked the place but not sure if any good staff had left or something but this Sunday was diabolical. The last time we came, we found glass in my nephews food and managers were apologetic and offered free food next time, so we thought we?d give it another try. It?s my special needs nephews birthday and he?s at the table crying because of the service we?ve received. Sharp steak knives are left on the table, even though we had written on our booking that there were 3 children. This is especially problematic as we had two special needs children at the table. They dropped my 2 year old nephews food on the floor in front of his face causing an autistic meltdown, his food then came out 15 minutes later and he?d cried so much he barely had the energy to eat. My sister ordered the cod and chips which came out slimey and missing the peas, not only that when they brought the peas it was a tiny scoop but more water than peas, making the chips go soggy. Steaks were fatty and tasted like a school dinner. The garlic bread was doughy and underbaked. Didn?t get asked how the food was or if anything was okayy until we?d already spoken to the manager at the end of the meal. Baby changing table is dangerously slanted. I had to hold the table up with my torso in order to stop my baby from slipping off. All toilets were disgusting, covered in feases that had been left for at least an hour.

Food was clearly microwaved - not very well: food below standards calamari was awful and made me feel sick.. not going back again

Wouldn?t go back here. Waited ages for service, the restaurant was dirty and the food was cold.

Not a great experience. Service was insanely slow and we had to go and find staff constantly to move things along. The food was ok, the chips were cold but the burger was nice. Toilets are in horrendous condition and need examining asap. Wouldn?t go back

8 of us went in for lunch. I went in the bar to get a beer to be told it was closed. I asked how you could get a drink and was told "sit at a table". ordered drinks, got them 15 minutes later. Ordered a beefburger and chips, got it 50 minutes later.
Did not need to follow signs to go to the gents, just follow your nose and you could smell it. floor flooded with water and you have to go through the kitchen / serving area to get to it.
Burger was ok, chips cold. why serve it on top of a bit of paper on the plate? Lots of people sat waiting to be served looking peeved.

I didn't get the chance to eat because the attitude of the guy it would have been a table for 1 me. The bigger parties of people 6 /7 it was no problem to him and then me he said do you want to eat in the bar which of course I didn't otherwise I would have went in there my self by he's attitude it sounded like he didn't want me in restaurant because I was on my own so I said forget it I'll go somewhere else. he was so off putting and pathetic I'll be telling other people as well what happened I've been going there for over 30 years and never had a problem. but never again there loss not mine.

The food, drinks were amazing however due to being under staffed we were rushed to eat and leave and the waiter made a mess and got cheese cake on our jackets and didn?t seem to care much, very rushed and barely got a word in as we?re all rushed and pressured to choose what we?d all like to eat

Lot of good food. Great care taken over daughter?s 15 food allergies. Lovely helpful waitress Dani. Downside husband?s steak was a bit tough and my fries were barely warm. Very nice surroundings and atmosphere.
Vegetarian options: Good vegetarian and more important vegan options. Real choice.
Dietary restrictions: Excellent care taken over daughter?s 15 food allergies including dairy and nuts. Good meal provided.
Wheelchair accessibility: Accessible for wheelchairs and poor mobility. Definitely disabled friendly. Disabled toilet facility.

Two of us went for dinner on Saturday night. We both ordered from the two courses and a drink for under £20 menu. Our starters were chicken goujons and breaded mushrooms. Both were really hot freshly cooked and tasty. One small negative was that the breaded mushrooms were so well cooked, that the only way to eat them was to pick them up and dip them in the barbecue sauce because you physically couldn't cut through them with a knife. That said, they were really tasty. Main courses were fish and chips and chicken melt. Again both were really tasty, initially looked like there wasn't enough chips but on eating the meal we wouldn't have needed anymore. The service was good, both of the people that were looking after us were really friendly and attentive. The only downside was that after the meal, I had to use the bathroom and they were absolutely disgusting. The odour and the state of them was appalling. Would have given five stars had it not been for the toilets but they need some serious attention. I was even more concerned about the poor quality and hygiene of the toilets considering they are in very close proximity to the kitchen. It's a shame that I actually went to the bathroom, because that tarnish the whole experience really, had it not been for that it would have been a 10 out of 10.
