Sainsbury Chiswick is one of the dirtiest stores they have. They always have a tramp in the car park by begging and today a tramp was shopping in the shop who absolutely stank. When I went to the check outs the scanners and surfaces for bags and baskets were utterly filthy. Whenever I go into a shop I have to ask them to clean it yet they stand around doing nothing in between assisting people with the scanners going wrong. The manager should be fired.

Toilets were filthy. Store was well-stocked with a great variety of food from budget to luxury - all at great prices

I found it to be larger than many London markets, with a greater selection of non-grocery/non-edible products as well. Coronation chicken deli filler was very good.

The advert on the tannoy said mentioned the coffee tart but you go to the dessert section and it's empty. I then proceeded to ask the staff and the first 3 said they can't help me because they don't work in that section. The last one just came and said sold out and never checked anything. I asked if they can check if it's in stock in Richmond because if it is I'll drive there but they said they don't know and that I should try. Poor service, I've shopped here for years now and this is the first time I've actually had to try and get some sort of answer/resolution to a minor issue, that issue being is this one product in stock. The way the shop is run is asinine, the inability to identify were an item is in stock is ridiculous for 2025. Because you can't give 0 stars in Google, I'll pretend the 1 star is for the fact that the expresso tart is one of the best tarts Sainsbury's has made.

Using this store is an ordeal. No matter what time of day you visit, you'll be faced with an obstacle course of shelf-stacking staff and their massive trolleys getting in the way, and/or running over your foot. It's impossible to see products and even get to them because of the 6ft trolleys obstructing numerous aisles, and posing a safety hazard.
This morning (at 7.30am) I had to do a head count because there were genuinely more staff than customers. I counted SEVENTEEN staff stacking shelves and blocking various aisles in the process. One of them nearly reversed into me with a trolley and didn't bother apologising.
In the mornings, there's always some annoying bloke on a rideable floor cleaner, constantly getting in the way and obstructing the aisles, and almost knocking you over. I'm not sure why this is deemed appropriate. Shouldn't the floors be cleaned outside of trading hours, not as soon as the shop opens?
Customer service here has gone completely down the toilet, especially in the last year. Gone are the helpful and efficient store assistants who used to man the self-service tills. Now it's over-run lazy, unprofessional young guys who are too busy joking among themselves and actively ignoring customers who need their help. Every time I need assistance at the self-service checkouts, I end up waiting a ridiculous amount of time trying to get their attention. This is despite there being 2-3 store assistants nearby every time. The only helpful member of staff who shows any decorum is the lady who wears a headscarf.
Illogically, the sandwich/lunch aisle is hidden right at the back of the shop, and impossible to locate. I'm pretty sure it used to be at the front of the store...why move it?
The store also seems to ride off its W4 postcode, hence why it hardly has any Nectar deals compared to a lot of other Sainsbury's branches. It's also lacking in Sainsbury's own-brand products but filled with dearer alternative brands.
There aren't enough self-service tills, which creates huge queues. In some cases, customers behind will rudely push in front when a checkout becomes vacant. Not a pleasant shopping atmosphere.

AVOID THIS SAINSBURY?S - would like to preface this review by saying that I hardly ever write negative reviews. But my experience has been so bad that I felt this is the only way forward. I also don?t normally have bad experiences with Sainsbury?s but then again I normally shop in the Fulham Wharf store. Needed to venture out to Chiswick Sainsbury?s but 2 products I bought from this store were not an acceptable standard for Sainsbury?s - mozzarella pearls, the bag had leaked all over the rest of my shopping when I got home & broccoli heads - (understand it?s somewhat normal and that they are no harm to humans but still not what you want to find in your broccoli) had caterpillars all over them! Further frustration with customer service who were basically unwilling to provide any compensation for this, despite no anger or frustration from my end when speaking them. Just monumentally disappointing from a multi-billion pound supermarket chain, that would cost them virtually nothing to a) provide good quality produce and packaging & b) support loyal customers better.

The toilets say alot about how the premises are managed..over the years its become a disgrace...Sainsbury needs to up its game and offer the customer a good shopping experience...the store itself is clean and staff are helpful hence the 3 stars otherwise.
