We recently bought a bicycle online for my 10-year-old son and chose Bromley Halford for collection. Upon picking it up, John, the bike specialist, brought the bike out and said it was all ready to go, stating there was nothing else we needed to add. This was my first time buying a bike, so I wasn't prepared with any questions, other than how to adjust the seat. John checked the bike and assured us that we were good to go without offering any further assistance. At the time, I assumed everything was in order.
A few weeks have passed, and my son is enjoying his new bike, but he isn't fully confident using it. The reason is that his hands are too small to properly use either brake. Initially, I thought this was normal. After researching online, I realised I needed to adjust the bike grips so my son could confidently brake when needed. I recalled our initial purchase and felt that John should have checked this with us. It seems like a significant safety issue to let any customer leave without ensuring they understand all safety features.
I called Halford Bromley to arrange a time to bring the bike back for brake adjustments, clearly stating the issue over the phone. I was assured that the adjustments would be made that day. When I arrived at Halford Bromley, I was greeted by John, who smiled and asked if he remembered me. He did not. I informed him that I had an appointment at 11 AM for the bike adjustments. John replied that they only perform repairs on Wednesdays, which confused me. I explained that the call center had booked me in for today and confirmed that the adjustments would be done.
Our conversation lasted over 10 minutes. The brake adjustment takes about 15 minutes, and John refused to do it, claiming he had two electric bikes to build. I then asked John if it wasn?t standard practice for Halford employees to explain all safety features to customers, ensuring a safe purchase. My point is that when we bought the bike, there was a lack of care in ensuring customers understand the bike and its safety features. I found John's customer service to be appalling.
I urge you to ensure that all your staff conduct thorough safety checks and explain them to customers upon pick-up, especially when it involves children. Due to this experience, I will no longer purchase bikes from Halford and will choose to go to Decathlon instead.

A.Dont know where the outlets are on our car(Ford galaxy)
B.dont have the right machine
It?s not a problem but was a complete waste of time,there should be a drop down menu to select your car to see if applicable

Our truck went in for windscreen repair. Used their online booking system where you have to prepay. First they had the repair time wrong then the repairman couldn't be bothered to serve him when he went to collect it. When he drove off he noticed the crack is still there. Not sure they've done anything- will have to take it back in. If Halfords read this - what's the process ? Not paying online a second time.

Great staff at the bike counter. I needed to find a bike for my daughter's 5th birthday. Once to choose and the staff was very helpful and made some good suggestions. 2nd time to pick up bike. We couldn't get the one we had tried in store (almost everything was out of stock) but when we came to have it built, there were issues with the training wheels. Matias was great at making the changes to accomodate and did it in a timely manner. Great service overall. Happy I didnt get one on amazon and had to do this all by myself!
