The quality and quantity of food was underwhelming for the price. We paid £280 for four people with no wine. The amount of food we were served for four people was the same as the table of two next to us. £30 service charge for average service was also too much. Can?t recommend this place. The menu sounds much better than what you actually get.

Honestly disappointing. It's the restaurant equivalent of that "cool" guy who shows up to the party and decides to leave before midnight.I was expecting an exciting, innovative and experimental dining experience. The first dish was great - prawn toast and raw beef with lots of Asian flavors. Delicious. The flatbreads are good, but nothing better than your average trendy food truck offer. The main was boring - pork and mash, very well cooked, but again, a bit tame and lazy. Dessert was the worst bit, a deathly sweet chocolate mousse that you could find in the frozen food section of waitrose. The food was decent - individual dishes were good but there was no thread linking them together. Why have a set menu if you're just going to cook whatever leftovers you have in the kitchen? The killer was the bill - nearly £200 after tax for the set menu, a bottle of wine, and an extra flatbread. Not nearly worth the price at all and we only had 1.5 hours for table. Come on mate! The decor and vibe of the restaurant didn't go far enough. It clearly wants to be the enfant terrible of the London restaurant scene, but just comes across as an angsty teenager who just discovered Nirvana.

I came here with my partner for our aniversary, and while it isn?t the cheapest place for a student my god does it deliver on everything. Especially since I only heard about this place because the owner came axe throwing at my work place.I ate the regular menu and my other half ate the veggie menu and both of us had an amazing time. We couldn?t stop smiling at how cool the food looked half the time, and it all tasted amazing too. Our waiter Sam was a legend, there just enough that you never felt like you were waiting, but without bearing over the table. Not to mention we had a couple of laughs with him.The experience is perfect for anyone looking for intimate, friendly fine dining without the pressure traditional fine dining restaurants put on customers to be something they aren?t.It was a perfect anniversary dinner.Vegetarian options: The veggie options were good, though a little rigid with the set menu (that?s what you sign up for though. The quality of all courses was about on par with the standard menu, which is a very high standard to be fair. The only dish where one was notably better was the main where my other half would have loved some of the spiced prunes from my dish

My meal was only okay, frankly. The bone marrow was nice bit the kimchi salad I didn't enjoy. I've eaten in some lovely restaurants with much better food which didn't come near this price. £55 each for small sharing portions of pretty cheap ingredients just felt ridiculously overpriced. Plus the wine list isn't available online - all is says is that the wine cost is fairly capped. But the cheapest house red was £41 , which you don't know until you get there. I am happy to spend money for a special treat for something that is great. But this isn't it. Even very high end restaurants have a range of reasonable wine options. Came away really disappointed- and £170 lighter on a pretty meagre meal for 2. I'd sadly advise others to avoid the hype.

Second time I?ve visited BAM and was certainly not as good as the first. Pork salad was ok, soup dish was ok, the main bone marrow and flatbread was very good and the panne cotta desert was decent. Add on a beer and a glass of wine and £160 is not worth what you?re getting. Much better places around

Holy shit it was almost £100 pp and we only had two drinks each. You can see it in my pictures, most of the dishes are just "filler" like the flat bread, cheese bread, and the salad. The main thing is the entire roasted chicken but really a roast chicken doesn't cost me £200. Drinks are ridiculously pricey too. The entire place is tiny and everyone is cramped together. It was especially uncomfortable because the chair was so small. Staff barely notice us and it was so chaotic we didn't enjoy it.

A couple of weeks ago, my friend and I had an incredible meal at Black Axe Mangal. We were able to get a walk-in table and sat at the front by the kitchen. The meal (off a prix fixe menu) was much different (in a good way) than what I would normally order and challenged me to try new dishes. The owner, Katie, also went out of her way to make sure we were welcome and had a memorable experience.Reviews have said the music can be loud, and as someone sensitive to loud noises, I did not find that. I also dug the old school beats they were playing.Highly recommend trying this spot.

Nothing too much trouble for fantastic waiting staff. Don?t expect fine dining - it?s better than that. Borscht back will change your life (& I don?t like vodka). Sea bream, crab, ox heart, Adana, asparagus - all fantastic.

The food was even better than last time I visited. Crispy as hell hash browns with beautiful smoked cod roe. Melt in the mouth chicken wings. A filthy take on the St JOHN classic bone marrow with oxtail that should be illegal it was so good. Mackerel with Malaysian high tea slaw was our favourite, just bursting with flavour. Staff are the friendliest bunch you could meet and manage a busy buzzing restaurant so well. The man Lee Tiernan is an absolute class act humble genius and it?s a privilege to eat at his restaurant. Till next time.

Have been wanting to go to this place for so long! Although it started with a bémol by us having to wait outside beyond our reservation time, the staff quickly made the situation better by saying sorry many times and offering them free drinks.Going inside, we realised quickly that it is not a conventional place. The seating and table set is different and kind of ?boho-chic?. There was very loud metal music playing which was bothering us at the beginning but soon after it stopped everything was better. The food was the big shock though. It is a fixed menu, that has a vegetarian option. All dishes were very interesting but what definitely stood out was 3 dishes. First the squid ink flatbread is definitely worth trying with beautiful bread and great ?tarama?. Secondly the smoked chicken over rice was my favorite dish. Finally, the deep fried apple pie was out of this world. The extra lamb flatbread was interesting but not something I would re-order.Conclusion, this is a great address with an interesting take on Middle Eastern cuisine, working with ingredients that you wouldn?t find there. Definitely go there on an empty stomach because.

Food and service was great but absolutely rinsed my bank account. £90 a head for a 3 course SHARING menu and two bottles of wine. I wanted to cry over my deliciously overpriced rabbit croquette. Don't go here if you are on a budget.

Great service and a really neat menu. The pork belly and the trifle were definitely winner dishes. Atmosphere is really cosy and welcoming and the staff is just a gem.

Amazing tasting menu for dinner. Stand out was the squid ink bread with yolk woooooweeee. Super interesting/quirky menu that makes you try stuff you wouldn?t normally on a London menu. Would return!
