I found the new management incredibly rude. The vibe is uncomfortable and no longer family friendly. It?s a shame as this used to be a really lovely place for all. Southey Brewery is a better local option.

Bar staff were incredibly rude, and made it clear that the pub was no longer family friendly. Very greasy food, the burger?s meat was dry and over cooked, but the pork belly and fries were really tasty but a long wait for a Wednesday night. They even have signs in the garden to restrict children from playing. It?s a real shame since we used to like this pub but maybe they switched owners. Definitely not going back?

The goldsmiths is pretty local to me and I visit frequently. The staff are always friendly, they have a nice beer garden, and the food is decent pub food.

Used to be a local but new management and unnecessarily strict compliance to the 6pm curfew means this is no longer a pub for families or people with younger children.
I understand the 6pm curfew but we arrived at 5:50pm with a child and the management very rudely accosted us out the door. They expected us to have pre read the new ownership requirements in what was a previously child friendly pub.
Not only that but that manager was unbelievably rude while we were forced to leave at 2 mins past the curfew time.

Great spot for food and drinks. The food was delicious and reasonably priced for the portion sizes! Nice atmosphere inside and out but we opted to sit in the beer garden and enjoy the sunshine. Lots of parasols for cover. Super friendly manager who was very accommodating, checking everything was good for us and letting us know about a BBQ the following day.

Best double cheese burger i have had in a long time. Staff are realy friendly, this coming from a northerner, beer garden is pet friendly and a exquisite place to sit whilst enjoying a pint. T from Manchester

Spent the whole time listening to 100 five year olds screaming in my ear. Is this a pub or a creche? Not relaxing or enjoyable. Noone made any attempt to control the screaming children.

Our last 2 visits have left us a bit disappointed. We were excited to hear a pub quiz was starting on Wednesdays, so we turned up on the first advertised date only to find it was cancelled last minute. We stayed to grab some dinner while we were there anyway, also only to find the kitchen was only serving about 5 items from the whole menu.
We returned today after lots of social media posts about the quiz being on. It was quite quiet so we asked if the quiz was running, which we were told it would be once some more people turned up. We grabbed some drinks and realised the kitchen was closed so we couldn't order any food. After a while, a group turned up and the quiz master took her laptop to their table (as they were her friends) and started the pub quiz with just that group, not asking us if we wanted to join.
The rest of the staff were lovely and helpful, providing friendly service, but I don't think we'll attempt the pub quiz for a 3rd time based on our 2 tries.
