We visited on a relatively quiet Wednesday afternoon in the Easter holidays, arriving shortly before 4pm.
Pleasantly surprised to see that it wasn't particularly busy, plenty of tables, all of which were clean and tidy and free from dead plates and cups/mugs, which is my pet hate.
3 hot drinks, decaf cappuccino and two hot chocolates, plus a fruit cake (lovely and moist chocked full of fruit and cherries), scone and a piece of coffee cake (very rich and creamie); just over £23.
The service was good. Staff cleaning the tables, as we approached closing time at 5pm.
Light, bright and airy with comfortable chairs.

Was looking at my phone for somewhere dog friendly to have some lunch and spend an afternoon and spotted this place. Despite being ?dog friendly? and having signs for dog ice cream out front I found it decidedly not so. You can?t enter most the areas as they are subcontracted to other stores that don?t allow dogs. And since I?m travelling alone with my dog I had no way to get food and then sit down, as they did not allow dogs at the counter. Left hungry and shoppingless.

I was disappointed to see the state of the birds in small cages, looking miserable. The cage was a mass of poo and looked disgusting. I shall not be returning for a visit.

Educate yourself on avian upkeep and care before having birds.
1. peanuts can contain a deadly fungus inside that will kill your birds and also isn't a part of a everyday diet.
2.sunflower seeds are known as chocolate in the bird world because of how fattening and dangerous they are so the fact you're feeding your birds this as a everyday diet is SHOCKING.
3.Your macaw needs regular exotic vetinary check ups due to their beak being misplaced.
4.clean those cages!!! this will cause health issues in the long run, this is appalling behaviour and not very good example for on lookers to see and think this is the norm!

This a gem of a restaurant. The staff are so help and the scones fantastic ?Well worth a visit for the food al lone . Shopping area allay tempting . Parking never a problem ? Dogs are allowed in. But it. would be an added bonus to give people a ?dog free eating area .?to make it a perfect choice to come to regularly . Not all children like dogs???

Often go here with my husband and usually take my grandson or/and granddaughter for lunch. However Yesterday when we went we were told it is £1 for hot water to heat a baby?s bottle absolutely disgusted what a rip off. They will be losing my custom as I feel a firm that charges that much for hot water for a baby, is happy to rip customers off. So much for a family firm. They have lost a loyal and frequent customer and a lot more than the£1 they wanted for hot water as usually spend between £30 and £40 a a visit in the restaurant alone and usually at least once more often twice a month. Warn anyone that goes here to take a flask on hot water if they want to heat a bottle or be prepared to pay £1 for the privilege of them supplying it for you. Incidentally I always have black coffee and often ask for extra hot water to top it up and have never been charged anywhere for this.

I feel so sad at the negative reviews for this excellent garden centre. I bring my elderly parents for coffee twice a week as they feel so comfortable in the surroundings. There is ample ?blue badge? parking, access to at least 3 wheelchairs and great accessibility. The staff both in the coffee shop and the garden centre are amazing with their warmth and consideration, we are made to feel more like friends than customers. Keep up the great work Highfield, we really do appreciate your amazing staff!

Lovely Saturday lunch at Highfield! We really enjoyed our meals and there was lots of choice. The cakes were really tasty and it was hard to pick just two!! Only reason I didn?t give 5 stars was because the jacket potato filling and salad was very limited considering the price that they are. The lady on the till even charged us half price because of the small portion size.

3 of us meet regularly at Highfields restaurant for breakfast and a catch up but we have been disappointed with the breakfasts lately. The food is displayed in too big a quantity under lights and on hotplates that seem to carry on cooking the food and on occasion we have witnessed staff throwing eggs away. During todays visit the eggs were over cooked with the yolks gone hard on both the fried and the poached eggs. The chef declined to cook a fresh one for one of our party as he said he hadn?t long put them out and the counter staff were equally unconcerned resulting in that breakfast being cancelled by our party member. My breakfast was only lukewarm with the bacon hard and tough to eat where it had dried out, and the toast was cold (the butter didn?t even begin melt on it) and anaemic looking. This was similar to last week and when I asked then for the toast to be put through the machine again it came out burnt. According to the waitress that was the 2 choices - underdone or overdone. I?m afraid my meal was wasted today as it was inedible and after the chefs refusal to rectify the egg situation I wasn?t inclined to take it back. It?s fair to say we weren?t the only disappointed customers this morning and we won?t be breakfasting there in future.
