Went for a pint and a curry on a week night, there wasn?t many people in the pub but the beer was good and the staff and customers were welcoming so no complaints about the actual pub at all
So the good part of this review is for the pub only
We went for a curry next door, th table sitting had waited ages as they told me, so we sat and ordered in 5 minutes,there was lots of Deliveroo and uber eats coming in? after 40 minutes of waiting for just starters I went and asked if they had even started to cook the food he returned and said no we haven?t we are very busy
Another chap was shouting he ordered 45 mins agon for a take away and still waited 30 at the pub????
I said forget the food, he said just pay for your popadoms ??no chance mate, he quickly apologised and we left for fish and chips in posh plaice, very tasty
So will not return because too hard to get served

Staying local, we went here for dinner and a couple of drinks sat outside with dog, food was great service good Great atmosphere ? will be back.

Visited this pub Wednesday 7pm.
Walked into the pub,staff didn't seem to like non locals visiting no conversation and an instant disliking to me and my wife.We ordered drinks and asked for a table where we could sit, was told just pick one!Sat down menus were just thrown on the bar for us to collect ourselves.We chose our food and I went to the bar to order where the unwelcoming staff member took the order.Food arrived very quick,fish and chips were very well cooked.But the sides were rushed mozzarella sticks raw.We ate our food and very quickly paid the bill and left as we felt very unwelcomed.

Great, traditional, but modern style, pub. Very friendly and welcoming. Always sports on. Pool table and darts. Good prices and if you want a no fuss, good pint and food this is the local to pop in on..

Visited the gate pub for a pint of course the owners so welcoming made you feel like family we tryed their homemade steak and ale pie and chips with peas pie and chips homemade excellent value for money and very yummy we also tried their steak and chips excellent once again we will be returning just going to book nearby caravan park

When stopping at the caravan site up the rd , we always pop in to the gate for a couple . Landlord very friendly as are the locals . Not eaten in here but the Indian restaraunt adjoing smells lovely .

Second time coming for a carvery, food was delicious, puddings are amazing. Staff are lovely, there is a large car park. My own downfall was last time we came the deserts were written on a board and the staff wasn?t really sure what they was. One line said cheesecake and she wasn?t sure what kind it was, another just said fudge, I assumed it was fudge cake. However the time before that we had it all written on menus so I?m assuming this was just an issue on the day. I?d still return though. I?d love to see the back room extended somehow to create more space but the chairs are super comfy. We will be back soon.

We were stopping just down the road for the weekend and popped in for a few drinks. The 2 ladies behind the bar were both lovely and the locals were welcoming and friendly. We booked in the next night for a curry which was the best curry I have ever had. Well worth a

best carvery around!!!! We could have a choice of 4 meats, beef lamb pork and turkey... Lots of lovely fresh vegetables.. And we could choose a delicious pudding all for £15 ?as we had booked before we went..... We will definitely go back?

My husband + I went to Wills Kitchen + Carvery at the Gate today. There was a choice of 4 meats (hubby had one of each) + a huge choice of veg, including gorgeous homemade roasties! We had the deal which included a choice of around of 7 desserts, for an amazing price of £15 pp. The staff were friendly + helpful + we will definitely be back!
