Lovely place, nice vibe and great service. I went there for dinner and the food was impeccable. Vegetarian options are there albeit a bit basic (in number), GF can be accommodated (including GF burger buns). Superb wine options including a few local ones from the Cotswolds.

We stayed in 'Gallery' for 3 nights; in booking the dinner reservation i very briefly mentioned 'birthday', awaiting us was a welcome birthday card and at dinner a nice birthday petit fours (and candle) was presented to the table. The Room (first floor up the turret staircase) was spacious and nicely presented. Varity of coffee, teas and homemade flapjacks were provided (and topped up each day). Molton Brown toiletries, and big fluffy towels - real body size, (not a half hearted hand towel!). Slippers and bathrobes. Couple of observations about the room - I would have preferred a shower cap to the eye mask provided, and with increasing osteoarthritis I realise that in future I need to book easy access shower - the access to the over bath shower was on the limit to Mr S's mobility. The location in Tetbury was excellent, with a full hotel the car parking area - with the trend to larger cars - gets full very quickly (we were always lucky). The garden area lovely and peaceful. Breakfast had an extensive hot menu and good buffet with fresh pastries, cereals etc. We had one evening meal at the hotel starter of crab on brioche; filet steak and stone bass - we each said our choices were delicious; pudding was lychee panacotta - smooth and very tasty. Supporting act was a bottle of New Zealand SB, which was excellent. Visit again? Yes definitely but we may well have to try some of the other Hotels in the Cotswold Inn family. Well located for Highgrove; Westonbirt Arboretum and Rodmartin Manor. Lovely stay, thank you to everyone.

The hotel is lovely with a nice breakfast and committed staff. However, the rooms are tiny. Ours was on the third floor (it is only a three floor hotel with no elevators and steep stair cases) and it was hot. When we opened the windows the main street was below. There was a great deal of noise all night - traffic and people strolling the streets. The choice was to bake in bed or be up all night with noise. The hotel could provide us no solution.

We were in Swallow, on the front of the hotel. Very comfy and clean. However for a four star hotel I would have expected a fridge and safe. Breakfast was included in the price and was fine. There is an attractive lawn and seating area at the back of the hotel. All in all, a pleasant stay.

A beautiful hotel in the centre of Tetbury. Cosy rooms with everything you could need, a delicious breakfast included and a lovely ambience throughout the hotel. We had dinner too, a varied, interesting and delicious menu. Friendly and helpful team. Perfect location. Finally, super dog friendly!

I was looking forward to this stay, visiting family. When I arrived, I experienced my first disappointment while asking where to park since all the parking spots were taken. The young lady at the reception replied sternly. ?I?m afraid we cannot offer another option?. Then I get the spire room? stairs, then stairs behind the door and up to the room. Had to call service in the middle of the night for bugs who looked like cockroaches. I must say that the manager on duty by night was extremely helpful and understanding. Note that the room was nicely appointed, but the hand shower did not work. The next day I spoke with the manager at the reception who explained to me it was not cockroaches, but wood lice. And in order to be fully honest, she offered to change rooms or to vacuum properly the room. I wanted to be constructive. I chose the latter. We had a drink with my family at the bar and the Spanish bar was quite rude to my elderly mother when she took time to choose her drink. We also had lunch at the restaurant and I must see it is my best experience at this hotel. Food was very tasty and service extremely friendly, and what you would expect in such a hotel. The last strike came from the reception. When I realized there was a mistake in my reservation through Booking.com and I had to leave one day earlier. The gentleman called Mark had a disdainful and annoying attitude all the way. He said ?we offer no refunds but you are free to leave?. Appalling. He refused to give me my credit card receipt (claiming there are no receipts when paying with a phone which was not the case in any of the shops we visited in Tetbury) and I did not get the final invoice with the detailed expenses billed on the room (bar + restaurant) so I was unable to check anything. He claimed there was one more day to go. Always with an extremely patronizing tone. I must add that Booking.com said it was up to the hotel to decide and the hotel decided to charge me for the last unspent night. I cannot express the level of disappointment I experienced. I travel quite often for work but must say I never experienced such a level of disrespect for customers.

Myself and two friends had lunch here on July 31st, prior to a visit to Highgrove. This was not my first visit here saw I was really looking forward to it. The Close did NOT disappoint! Everything was nigh-on perfect. The ambiance, the housekeeping, the friendly staff, the service and the food!. I would highly recommend The Close at Tetbury.

Beautifully presented hotel; inside and out. We had such friendly service and it had a lovely atmosphere. Good drinks. Good views, either overlooking terrace or high street. Dog friendly. Well stocked bar. Various bar snacks. Conveniently located.

Lovely hotel for a stay, great reception staff, super rooms. Unfortunately the restaurant lets it down. The service at lunchtime was poor even though the hotel was not busy. One of the courses had to be returned and not fully credited as one would have expected. A replacement meal was not taken due to the slowness of service.

I booked the Afternoon Tea as a treat for my sister's 60th Birthday. We were seated at a table in the garden area as requested. Lovely setting and fairly busy. We ordered the afternoon tea including the Gin & Tonic for £35, and were each served with 3 x finger sandwiches, 2 scones (1 plain, 1 fruit) with jam & cream, a meringue, a tiny brownie, and tiny choc éclair. Disappointing, as I've had better at less expensive venues. Obviously the location and reputation hikes the price.

Genuine Cotswolds experience The Close in Tetbury is a 500 year old hotel that is so genuine and unique. Great experience and we had a last minute surprise to find out it is 3 minutes away from the Poldark house! Food was excellent and staff were friendly.
